Felda’ s record trail

THE Federal Land Development Authority( Felda) has earned a place in the Malaysia Book of Records( MBR) for organising the largest oil palm-themed treasure hunt, recognising its efforts to engage settlers through creative and educational activities.
The record was achieved under Felda’ s Kembara Sawit Lestari programme, a component of the agency’ s fourth cluster initiative.
Held in conjunction with Felda Settler Day 2025 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre( MITEC), the programme drew 1,040 settlers who participated in a range of events, including indoor and scavenger hunts as well as educational activities.
MBR special officer Edwin Yeoh presented the official certificate to Felda director-general Datuk Dr Suzana Idayu Wati Osman at a ceremony hosted at Matrade, witnessed by Felda deputy director-general( plantations) Izham Mustaffa.
In his remarks, Izham said that Felda also held a three-day seminar starting Jul 31 aimed at optimising returns and improving the overall output of oil palm cultivation.
“ If togetherness or accurate information can be implemented, then God willing, productivity and quality achievements can be achieved through this program and seminar,” he said after the ceremony.
He highlighted Felda’ s commitment to sustainability and its vision of taking Malaysian palm oil to the global stage under the theme“ Sawitku Mendunia.”
“ This means our oil palm, which is 80 per cent of the hard work of settlers, can be marketed throughout the globe,” he said.
Izham noted that all Felda settlements have received Malaysia Sustainable Palm Oil( MSPO) certification, aligning with the nation’ s Sustainable Development Goals( SDGs).
“ We adopt good practices, comply with all laws and compliance principles in palm oil management, as well as ensuring good governance to produce high-quality products,” Izham added.
These values, he said, are instilled at every level- from settlers and workers to management- to ensure consistent adherence to MSPO standards.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, has been a vocal supporter of these changes, frequently engaging with Felda leadership on development strategies.
According to Shabery:“ Having government leadership that understands and empathises with Felda is crucial.”
Felda Director-General Datuk Dr Suzana Idayu Wati Osman offered a final word on where things are headed:“ We are no longer just managing land. We are managing lives. And that responsibility means thinking differently, acting faster, and listening more closely to the people who matter— our settlers.”
