THE Pakar Pertanian Expo ( PPE ) 2024 second edition , held at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang ( MAEPS ) from March 1-3 , was a resounding success .

Organised by Nongyeh . com , the event brought together the finest minds and practitioners from the agriculture industry in Malaysia and abroad to discuss and showcase innovations , practices , and technologies to revolutionise the agricultural sector .
The Expo , launched by Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu , served as a crucial platform for fostering sustainability within the entire food supply ecosystem .
Mohamad Sabu commended all parties involved for contributing energy and effort to make the event successful . He highlighted the significance of the Agricultural Expert Expo in highlighting the diversity of Malaysia ’ s agricultural sector and emphasising its role as a container of excellence and unity .
VISION FOR 2024
In his speech , the Minister outlined the direction of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security ( KPKM ) for 2024 ,
themed “ INOVASI NASIONAL KETER- JAMINAN AGROMAKANAN RAKYAT ”.
“ KPKM will emphasise the development of four industries , namely paddy and rice , poultry and eggs , shallots and pineapples , to ensure continuous progress in addressing food security challenges and further increasing economic growth in the agricultural sector .”
He emphasised KPKM ’ s commitment to simplifying processes and addressing existing issues to support the growth and development of these sectors .
He also highlighted specific initiatives and targets set by KPKM for the year 2024 , including the “ Gelombang Padi ” Initiative aimed at achieving a Self-Sufficiency Rate ( SSR ) of at least 80 per cent for the country ’ s rice within seven to 10 years .

He underscored the importance of collaboration and cooperation among all stakeholders to achieve these targets and ensure the country ’ s food security .
ADDRESSING CRITICAL ISSUES
This year ’ s Expo attracted approximately 10,000 local and international visitors , underscoring its significance in addressing critical issues facing Malaysia ’ s agriculture sector , particularly food security . It also featured outdoor product demonstrations and over 70 seminars covering various crop types , aimed at equipping farmers with the necessary knowledge and tools to adapt to modern farming practices .

provided invaluable insights into new technologies and farming methods . Speakers included experts from Indonesia , Thailand , Universiti Putra Malaysia ( UPM ) and Jabatan Pertanian Malaysia .
Throughout the event , the importance of embracing new technologies and practices to address the evolving agricultural landscape and meet the growing demands of an expanding population was emphasised . The Expo played a crucial role in bridging the gap between traditional farming methods and modern agricultural practices , ultimately improving the quality of life for local farmers .
