AGRICULTURE AT THE FOREFRONT: With Budget 2026, the MADANI Government deepens its commitment to empowering farmers and smallholders across Malaysia.
— a move intended to reduce dependency on foreign labour.
A further RM120 million will benefit smallholders across commodities, including palm oil, rubber, cocoa, pepper and kenaf. Among these, 1.1 million cocoa seedlings will be distributed to farmers, alongside training and technical assistance.
For rubber, the Malaysian Rubber Board( LGM) will spearhead a RM600 million Research Centre of Excellence dedicated to strengthening latex production and advancing sustainability. To improve logistics and access to plantations, RM50 million has also been allocated for road development and maintenance across rural agricultural areas.
Taken together, Budget 2026 goes beyond temporary relief. It sets in motion a national renewal of Malaysia’ s agricultural identity. In a period marked by global supply disruptions, volatile weather and rising costs, Malaysia is determined to protect its farmers, modernise its industries and assert its independence in food production.
As Anwar reiterated in his address, governance, enforcement, and integrity remain central to national progress, and the MADANI administration has turned its commitment into action: empowering those who plant the seeds that sustain the nation.- @ AGROBiz
