Driving ESG excellence

� SIRIM Berhad launched the ESG Readiness Roadshow and related programmes to help Malaysian industries strengthen ESG capabilities.

SIRIM Berhad recently launched the ESG Readiness Roadshow, Personnel Certification Programme, and Sustainability Report Advisory Services as part of the MADANI Sustainability Roadmap.

This national initiative aimed to support Malaysian industries in enhancing their Environmental, Social, and Governance( ESG) capabilities and aligning with international sustainability standards.
The programme, aligned with the New Industrial Master Plan( NIMP) 2030 and the government ' s MADANI agenda, sought to advance sustainable industrial development and bolster the competitiveness of Mid-Tier Companies( MTCs) and SMEs, particularly in the manufacturing sector and those integrated into international supply chains.
The event was officiated by SIRIM Academy Covering Chief Executive Officer Dr Mohd Bakri Jali, representing SIRIM Acting President & Group Chief Executive Officer Nik Sazali Nik Hussin.
This underscored the organisation ' s commitment to facilitating ESG adoption. The programme provided participating organisations with technical guidance, capacity-building, and certification to integrate ESG into their core operations seamlessly.
As a strategic partner to industry, SIRIM Berhad designed this initiative to transform ESG from a mere compliance issue into a driver of sustainable, efficient, and profitable growth. The overarching goal was to empower Malaysian companies to become ESG-Ready and secure a competitive position on the global stage.
The programme addressed common industry challenges, including limited in-house ESG expertise and the high costs associated with external consultancy.

practical, cost-effective support, including guidance on preparing sustainability reports that complied with the Global Reporting Initiative( GRI) standards. This approach aimed to enhance credibility with investors and strengthen supply chain partnerships.
To facilitate this transition, eligible organisations were invited to apply for the ESG-NIMP Grant Programme, which offered 80 per cent government funding alongside a 20 per cent company co-contribution.
The grant targeted SMEs and mid-tier companies, including exporters and firms in high-emission sectors, enabling them to implement robust ESG practices effectively.
Participants benefitted from specialised training and certification for ESG personnel, complemented by advisory support to achieve formal " ESG-Ready " status. These components provided businesses with the practical tools necessary to embed sustainability into their daily operations and improve long-term market positioning.
Overall, this initiative reinforced Malaysia ' s long-term economic and environmental goals, assisting organisations in embedding ESG principles in accordance with both NIMP 2030 and the MADANI Sustainability Roadmap.

ALLIANZ Malaysia Bhd( Allianz Malaysia) has just hit a milestone, securing a place on the Environmental, Social and Governance Select List 2025, a regional recognition framework overseen by the United Nations Global Compact Network Malaysia and Brunei( UNGCMYB).
The ESG Select List highlights organisations that demonstrate structured and measurable advancement in areas aligned with the United Nations Global Compact ' s Ten Principles and the Sustainable Development Goals( SDGs).
The acknowledgement portrays progress in the company ' s efforts to integrate sustainability principles into core business functions rather than treating them as parallel initiatives.
Moreover, Allianz Malaysia was classified as a 3-Star Lister, with acknowledgements including key categories such as ESG Breakthrough Innovation, Purposeful Partnership, and The North Star ESG Target Setting. This further emphasised the company ' s longterm and goal-oriented commitment to sustainability.
