THE growing urgency of environmental and social challenges has pushed sustainability to the forefront of global conversations. Organisations, policymakers, and industry leaders are growing aware that meaningful change requires collaboration across sectors.

The MAPAN ESG Industry & Academic Summit 2026 will be held from July 28-29, 2026, at the World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This two-day event is designed to help organisations turn Malaysia ' s new National Sustainability Reporting Framework( NSRF) requirements into opportunities for measurable business results.
By bringing together corporate leaders, academics, regulators, supply chain players and students, the summit focuses on moving the ESG discussion beyond awareness and into practical implementation for organisations operating in Malaysia.
Another goal is to equip participants with tools, networks, and insights that will enable organisations to integrate ESG principles into daily operations while remaining competitive in a rapidly evolving economic environment.
General Chair Ben Ong noted that the event arrives at a critical moment, as businesses and institutions face growing expectations to align their strategies with the Sustainable Development Goals.
" Organisations today are under increasing pressure to demonstrate that sustainability is not just a statement, but part of how they operate and make decisions," he said.
According to Ong, discussions at the summit are expected to focus on practical solutions rather than theoretical debates. Participants will explore how sustainability frameworks can be translated into practical methods.
This is especially beneficial for companies that are navigating regulatory changes, investor expectations, and shifting consumer priorities.
These objectives reflect the higher mission of the MAPAN ESG Industry & Academic Summit 2026: to help Malaysian organisations transition from passive awareness of sustainability to proactive implementation.
BRIDGING INDUSTRY COLLABORATION
As ESG expectations continue to influence business operations and reporting standards, dialogue among industry, academics, and policymakers has become increasingly important.
The summit will gather participants from corporate organisations, micro, small, and medium enterprises( MSMEs), academic institutions, and policy bodies. Sustainability challenges rarely exist within a single sector, and making cross-disciplinary engagement
