THE sixth edition of the International Energy Week( IEW) 2025 concluded in Kuching, reinforcing Sarawak ' s position as a key hub for clean energy and a driver of the global energy transition.
Over three days, the event generated an estimated USD 2.5 million in immediate business opportunities through 200 booths, more than 400 exhibiting companies, and over 6,500 attendees from 25 countries.
Exhibitors covered the entire energy spectrum, including renewables, hydrogen, smart grids, energy efficiency, carbon capture, utilisation and storage( CCUS), and green infrastructure.
Speaking at the opening ceremony at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching( BCCK), organising chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Mamat emphasised that the event marked more than the start of another energy conference.
" Over the past six years, IEW has evolved from a regional forum into Asia-Pacific ' s leading platform for energy dialogue, innovation, and partnership," said Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg.
" This year ' s theme, ' From Sarawak to the World: Journey to Clean Energy Leadership ', reflects our ambitions not just to participate in the global transition, but to help lead it."
' BATTERY OF ASEAN '
Abdul Rahman highlighted Sarawak ' s transformation and its growing role as Malaysia ' s " Battery of ASEAN ", pointing to the State ' s 70 per cent renewable energy generation, leadership in the hydrogen economy, and strong international partnerships.
" IEW 2025 places a spotlight on Sarawak ' s transformation, showing the world it is not just resource-rich, but vision-rich; built on sound policies, empowered people, and strong partnerships," said Abdul Rahman.

The platform also supported Malaysia ' s aspirations to accelerate the energy transition, strengthen energy security, and deepen international cooperation.
" This platform is already attracting strategic investments, fostering local talent, and building Sarawak ' s reputation as a destination for sustainable innovation," added Abdul Rahman.
DRIVING COLLABORATION
IEW 2025 was designed as a catalyst for opportunity, collaboration, and transformation. Beyond immediate deals, the event aimed to foster longterm strategic partnerships, draw new investments, and enhance Malaysia ' s standing in the regional energy landscape.

The programme ' s highlights included the high-profile IEW Summit, featuring 50 influential voices across 20 strategic sessions; the Technical Talks series showcasing real-world innovations ready for adaptation; and the Future Leaders Programme, which connected outstanding young talent with industry veterans.
" Starting with the Premier of Sarawak presenting our energy roadmap, to engaging with regional ministers and leading corporate figures – you will gain insights that can transform your strategies," Abdul Rahman said.
The exhibition floor also showcased pioneering technologies, crossborder collaborations, and commercial opportunities not found elsewhere in the region.

Abdul Rahman emphasised that IEW 2025 distinguished itself through its results-driven approach.
