MALAYSIA has solidified its position as a pivotal regional player in the clean energy transformation, following the successful organisation of the Energy Transition Meeting( ETM) in ASEAN.
This event, a collaborative effort between the Malaysia Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution( MYCentre4IR), hosted by MyDIGITAL Corporation, and the World Economic Forum( WEF), served as a significant platform for advancing clean energy initiatives.
Themed " Fostering Regional Cooperation," the ETM took place on the sidelines of the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit, aiming to enhance multilateral cooperation on a sustainable energy future.
Key topics included clean energy financing, policy harmonisation, industrial decarbonisation, and regional infrastructure integration.
During the Opening Plenary, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation( PETRA) Dato ' Sri Fadillah Yusof emphasised Malaysia ' s commitment to energy transition and its leadership role within ASEAN.
He stated: " As Chair of ASEAN in 2025, Malaysia is deeply committed to promoting dialogue, building consensus, and advancing regional frameworks that will power a cleaner, more secure, and more inclusive energy future."
He underscored the importance of ensuring that the energy transition is equitable and serves the population ' s needs while fostering resilience and sustainable growth.

KEYNOTE IMPACT: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Dato ' Sri Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof, shares his vision for a sustainable energy landscape, urging action and cooperation.
Head Roberto Bocca provided a global perspective on Southeast Asia ' s strategic significance in the international energy transition landscape. He praised Malaysia ' s efforts to align its national ambitions with regional and global climate goals.
" The energy transition is no longer a distant aspiration; it is a defining imperative shaping our economy, societies, and industries," Bocca remarked.
He stressed the need for stronger public-private collaboration and crosssector engagement, highlighting the unique opportunity presented by the ETM for sharing insights and advancing collaborative action towards a resilient and inclusive future.
MYCentre4IR serves as a neutral multi-stakeholder platform, bridging policy, innovation, and investment to translate strategic ambitions into actionable measures.
MYCentre4IR Head and MyDIGITAL Corporation Chief Executive Officer Adrian Marcellus stated: " Our role is to accelerate our national policy ambitions. Through MYCentre4IR, we are driving forward conversations in clean energy and fostering partnerships that extend beyond borders."
DRIVING CLEAN INNOVATION The ETM featured nine thematic ses- sions, featuring contributions from leaders in both the public and private sectors.
Key discussions centred on decarbonisation strategies for ASEAN industrial clusters, scaling up ASEAN Power Grid infrastructure, financing mechanisms for transitioning from coal to clean energy, advancing clean fuels and hydrogen ecosystems, nuclear readiness in the region, and utilising AI and data governance for energy innovation.
Additionally, the event hosted the Just Energy Transition CEO Roundtable and various bilateral meetings.
Malaysia ' s Minister of Digital, Gobind Singh Deo, engaged AI and technology stakeholders to explore the convergence of clean energy in preparation for powering the Intelligence Age.
With over 130 delegates from more than 20 countries, the Energy Transition Meeting attracted representatives from leading local, regional, and global entities, including PETRONAS, UNES- CAP, ASEAN Centre of Energy( ACE), and the Asian Development Bank.
Discussions also touched upon the potential formulation of an ASEAN Clean Economy Agreement, which could impact regional standards on carbon accounting, technology deployment, and sustainability financing.

This meeting aligns seamlessly with Malaysia ' s broader national policy framework, including the National Energy Transition Roadmap( NETR), Hydrogen Economy & Technology Roadmap( HETR), New Industrial Master Plan 2030( NIMP2030), and the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint( MDEB).
Through these initiatives, Malaysia aims to establish a resilient energy ecosystem that is digitally empowered, ESG-compliant, and regionally integrated.
The ETM discussions complement strategic ASEAN platforms such as the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation( APAEC) and the Just Energy Transition Partnership( JETP) model.
The Energy Transition Meeting marks a significant milestone for Malaysia and ASEAN as they advance a united agenda for an inclusive, futureready energy transition.
The collaboration between MYCentre4IR and WEF highlights the Malaysian government ' s dedication to fostering cross-sectoral cooperation and its leadership in shaping a green, digital, and interconnected regional economy.- @ green
