SARAWAK recently made remarkable progress in the renewable energy sector . This was a major highlight at the recent Asia Pacific Green Hydrogen Conference and Exhibition ( APGH 2024 ).
Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Transition and Water Transformation ( PETRA ) Minister Datuk Sri Fadillah Yusof praised Sarawak ’ s proactive approach to advocating renewable energy initiatives .
Sarawak advanced its energy transition , building upon the groundwork laid by the National Energy Transition Roadmap ( NETR ).
Another factor driving this progress is Sarawak ’ s abundant natural resources , including hydroelectric power and natural gas . Fadillah commended the State for strategically utilising these resources and thus positioning itself as a leader in the region ’ s renewable energy sector .
Besides that , Sarawak actively developed hydrogen production and application technologies .
One notable accomplishment is the launch of Sarawak Energy Berhad ’ s integrated hydrogen production plant and refuelling station , the first-ever in Southeast Asia .
Powered by renewable hydropower through electrolysis , the plant enables sustainable hydrogen production and facilitates hydrogen-powered vehicles .
“ Sarawak has positioned itself as a
