With relatively few major green-technology exhibitions in Hong Kong, she viewed Eco Expo Asia as a valuable and necessary business platform for the sector.
Manufacturers also used the exhibition to respond to rising customer expectations around environmental responsibility. K Y Tang, Senior Manager – Purchasing at Herald Metal & Plastic Works Ltd, attended the fair in search of sustainable materials suitable for toy production.
He noted that consumers increasingly favoured environmentally responsible options, and that the exhibition offered an ideal setting to connect with suppliers who shared those goals.
INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE
The 2025 edition attracted exhibitors and pavilions from 13 countries and regions, including Italy, Korea, the Netherlands, Norway and Canada. Within the Greater China region, group participation included Inner Mongolia, Hunan Province, Shanghai and several cities within the Greater Bay Area, reflecting growing domestic competitiveness in clean technology innovation.
Among the international exhibitors was Dipperfox, an Estonian company making its debut in the Asian market. Sales Manager Joel Bezzaborkin described the fair as“ seamlessly organised”, noting that the strong support from event organisers allowed the company to concentrate fully on its product showcase.
Discussions with city-maintenance representatives demonstrated the show’ s ability to connect international companies directly with qualified buyers. For Dipperfox, Eco Expo Asia served as a natural launch platform into a region known for large-scale infrastructure demands and robust municipal investment.
Global demand for sustainable technologies was also reflected in interest from the Middle East. GreenGood Eco-Tech. FZCO, based in Dubai, attended to explore new technologies ranging from sustainable packaging to energy storage. General Manager Amish Choksey noted that there had been productive discussions across several industry sectors.
He highlighted Hong Kong’ s firm policy and government support for sustainability, which continues to attract international participants seeking regional partnerships.
NATIONAL PAVILIONS
The introduction of the Korea Pavilion added a spotlight on advanced environmental solutions. Exhibitors presented expertise in air purification, water treatment and wasteto-resource technologies.
One highlight was Kinava Co Ltd’ s hybrid hydrothermal carbonisation technology, which converted organic waste into biochar and biofuel. Director of Sales, Kwangsuk Choi, said that the fair had already enabled meetings with buyers from Hong Kong and Argentina, demonstrating its role as a global hub for cross-market engagement, especially with stakeholders from the Chinese Mainland.
The Canada Pavilion returned with a diverse mix of cleantech solutions, from intelligent building systems and waterproofing materials to biological wastewater treatment and compact indoor farming. First-time participant Resiliocs Intelligence, a company specialising in climate risk analytics, reported strong interest from visitors who were increasingly conscious of climate-related challenges.
Founder and CEO Moustafa Naiem appreciated the high level of engagement from government officials and industry partners, noting the fair as an effective venue for gauging market appetite and building new connections.
KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE
In addition to the exhibition, Eco Expo Asia 2025 delivered a dynamic forum for policy dialogue and thought leadership. The Eco Asia Conference gathered government officials, researchers, environmental engineers and private-sector leaders to explore cutting-edge strategies for decarbonisation and climate resilience. Key topics included circular operations, green and smart mobility, and net-zero building development.
Dutch Envoy for Sustainable Building, Robert Dijksterhuis, spoke at a session on circular business transformation. He described Eco Expo Asia as vibrant and forward-looking, praising the opportunities it offered for Dutch companies seeking to expand into Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland.
He noted Hong Kong’ s position as a strategic node for circular investments and described the fair as a timely platform for exploring new solutions and partnerships.
Hydrogen innovation remained a primary driver of discussion, particularly in the context of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The 6th Hydrogen Economy Forum addressed both the progress and challenges in hydrogen adoption, including infrastructure, environmental management and safety standards for liquid hydrogen.
Speakers highlighted developments such as converting organic urban waste into hydrogen- a technology that could contribute materially to clean energy targets across the region.
Ir Edmond Fong, Head of Gas Network Operation & Engineering Construction at The
“ He noted Hong Kong ' s position as a strategic node for circular investments and described the fair as a timely platform for exploring new solutions and partnerships."
Hong Kong and China Gas Co Ltd, emphasised that, even 6 years after its initial launch, the forum continues to successfully connect stakeholders across the hydrogen value chain, accelerating industry collaboration and realworld deployment.
TECHNOLOGY IN FOCUS
Exhibitors also presented technical breakthroughs in materials science, packaging and renewable-energy systems. At the Exhibitor Forum, Greenwich( China) Technology Development Ltd introduced innovations derived from seaweed, including sustainable packaging solutions.
Senior Global Marketing Manager Amy Ho noted that the forum provided a valuable opportunity to communicate product benefits to a broader audience and generate fresh ideas beyond booth-side discussions.
