we had for years taken for granted , is now the source of multiple problems .

No , it is not because of the people .

Remember , during the good old days , we used to drink water straight from the taps . No one carried a water bottle to school or sports activities . Because there was always the good old tap from which to quench our thirst .

But now , it is gone forever . We had been robbed , repeatedly , of our fundamental right ( which is access to uninterrupted water ) in the name of profits .

The political elite had stolen from us .

The water cuts are not the end of our problems . Be aware , be fully aware , of this – the contaminated water is also finding itself into our irrigation system for our crop fields .

The pollutants are algae , bacteria , ammoniacal nitrogen and even E . coli . Also , heavy metals .

Needless to say , this toxicity is added to the food . And this eventually finds its way to the wet markets and the shelves of our super and hypermarkets .

So , are we surprised that more and more people are falling ill ? These days , everyone seems to have a family member stricken with cancer .

There was a standing joke in town recently about the government ’ s constant reminder to the citizens to wash their hands as often as possible . And then , they turn off taps .

A cruel joke , one might say . Again , pawns in the bigger scheme of things driven by pure greed and profitability .
