SITUATED in Victoria , Thermoshield Australia has a fundamental vision - to produce an environmentally sustainable product that reduces solar radiation within building structures . Owner and Managing

Director Gavin Batty emphasised Thermoshield ’ s critical role in achieving this vision .
Thermoshield ’ s impact on energy consumption is profound . By repelling nearly 95 per cent of solar radiation , the coating ensures HVAC units operate more
efficiently , leading to significant energy savings .
“ Dependent on location , you can save between 20-40 per cent of your cooling costs ,” stated Batty , highlighting the tangible benefits for both the environment and financial bottom lines .
ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND CARBON MITIGATION
The reduction in energy consumption plays a crucial role in decarbonisation efforts .
International Markets Director James Ding highlighted how Thermoshield contributed to Scope 2 carbon emissions reduction by minimising electricity consumption .
Thermoshield has done a 3rd party verified EPD , identifying a carbon footprint deriving from the manufacturing phase of 1.5kg of CO2e per m2 applied . Based on a bowling hall case study from Australia ( which can be downloaded from the company ’ s website ), the energy savings after the application of Thermoshield resulted in an avoided Scope 2 electricity carbon footprint of 37.67kg of CO2e per m2 per year .
This is a tremendous result and means that the impact of manufacturing is already covered after less than one month of application . This depends on the type of building and the climate in the application location , but it is a tremendous result .
With a 10-year warranty , Thermoshield underlines its commitment to quality and longevity .
“ We offer the client an extended warranty that , after 10 years , with a lite power wash and one coat of Thermoshield , gives them an extended warranty for a further 10 years ,” said Batty .
Batty added the 10-year warranty
reflected the company ’ s confidence in the product and its ability to withstand the test of time . This extended warranty is a commitment to quality and a strategic approach to building long-term client relationships .
MANUFACTURING PROCESS AND ECO-CREDENTIALS
Thermoshield ’ s manufacturing process is meticulous , with raw materials sourced locally and ceramic beads specially made by 3M . As a fully ISO-accredited company , each batch undergoes rigorous testing , and a sample is retained with batch number and date , ensuring consistency and quality .
Concerning the product ’ s low carbon footprint , Batty emphasised its benefits in avoiding additional raw material use , a key element in Scope 3 emission reduction .
The commitment to sustainability goes beyond the end product .
With asbestos roofs , Batty said : “ We are not permitted to power-wash a roof , but we can go and treat the roof .”
A Thermoshield coating ( three coats ) can encapsulate all those fibres . It also strengthens and waterproofs the roof , giving it a new lease of life .
With this particular system , businesses with asbestos roofs have the comfort of knowing that until various governments legislate that asbestos needs to be removed at an outrageous cost , this will give them peace of mind that the roof ’ s structural integrity has been improved . Any loose fibres have been encapsulated without disrupting the business activities .
The added focus on the manufacturing process unveils the complexity of producing a product that meets high-quality standards and aligns with eco-friendly practices .
COMPARATIVE ADVANTAGE AND APPLICATIONS
Thermoshield ’ s thermal insulation technology stands out compared to traditional methods .
“ We ’ re complementary to other tried and tested systems ,” said Batty , emphasising the holistic approach to building efficiency .
The product ’ s versatility is showcased in various climate zones , enhancing energy efficiency and comfort .
Examining the nuanced advantages of Thermoshield ’ s hollow ceramic beads that encapsulate the basic principle of insulation and set Thermoshield apart from conventional reflective coatings . Air encapsulation inhibits heat dissipation into the thermal mass , resulting in noteworthy
