Reformation amid recession

WITH the appointment of Dato ’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia last November , Malaysians are both hopeful and sceptical about seeing what is in store for the country in the year 2023 .

Anwar ’ s determination to fight corruption in his government is welcomed by many . Hopefully , it will help restore the image of Malaysia after a series of corruption being exposed previously at the top level of the country ’ s administration .
There is much talk globally on how the new Prime Minister will help reform the country and bring Malaysia to a new level despite the expected recession worldwide . The people look forward to seeing how the new government will lead and bring the nation forward through international cooperation and foreign investments .
Halal players are anticipating how the previous Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz will lead the halal industry now that he has become the Minister of International Trade and Industry ( MITI ). With his vast experience , Tengku Zafrul ’ s appointment is expected to improve the country ’ s economy .

However , despite optimistic plans to reform amid the recession , the new government must also quickly address pressing issues , such as the rising cost of goods and food security , which have been bothering the rakyat for months .
It looks like there ’ s still no end to these problems . The prices of goods keep rising to the point that it becomes a burden to some . Unlike a business entity , the government must put people first before anything else .
Nevertheless , it is still too early to tell how 2023 will be for the country and its people . Economic uncertainties are still among the major concerns of many businesses . Hopefully , with the new government leading the country , more opportunities will come knocking at the door .
