Poised for growth

Malaysia ’ s Islamic Finance landscape will see vast expansion with the inclusion of the polytechnic community through CIIF-JPPKK MoU

MEMORANDUM
of understanding ( MoU ) was recently inked between the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals ( CIIF ) and the Jabatan Pendidikan Politeknik Kolej Komuniti ( JPPKK ), a department under the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia .
This collaboration aims to develop more versatile and competent talents in the country who would offer their
skills and talents to the Islamic finance industry .
“ The MoU allows both JPPKK and CIIF to formally restructure and make facelift to the current curriculum of the Islamic Banking and Finance Diploma in polytechnics and community colleges ,”
expressed CIIF Chief Executive Officer ( CEO ) Dr Azura Othman .
“ This paves the way for remodelling of the diploma programme to professional qualification , which helps to improve graduates ’ employability in turn .
“ We anticipate bridging all existing gaps with the commencement of this MoU and further enhancing the country ’ s economic ecosystem by filling up the talent gap across the industry and all
business sectors .
“ This is timely with the rising demand for Islamic Finance professionals , which is not only in the banking and finance industry but the halal industry as well .”
The MoU also set the framework for other potential areas for collaboration , including development , research , innovation , expertise sharing and other mutually agreed educational and training fields .
The MoU is effective for three years .
MTA recently organised the CRC23 with the theme Climate Crunch Navigating Risks and Opportunities in the Takaful & Insurance Sector .

Championing a sustainable future

THE Malaysian Takaful Association ( MTA ) recently organised the Climate Resilience Conference 2023 ( CRC23 ) with the theme “ Climate Crunch : Navigating Risks and Opportunities in the Takaful and Insurance Sector ” at the Asia School of Business .
The conference brought together industry leaders , experts and stakeholders to gauge the requirements for Climate Risk Management and Scenario Analysis ( CRMSA ) and enhance financial institutions ’ resilience against climate-related risks .
The conference also served as a platform to dispense the Takaful and insurance professionals with the necessary knowledge and readiness for the CRMSA Policy Documents .
“ The Climate Resilience Conference
2023 serves as a platform for MTA to showcase its commitment to fostering sustainability within the industry . By addressing climate-related risks and opportunities , MTA aims to guide the Takaful industry towards a resilient and sustainable future ,” said MTA Chief Executive Officer ( CEO ), Mohd Radzuan Mohamed .
The CRC23 also symbolises the initiative brought by MTA to cultivate a proactive approach in addressing the escalating risks posed by climate change within the Takaful industry .
The CRC23 laid the groundwork for experts to promote methods to deal with climate issues in the takaful and insurance industries . MTA hopes that the conference will enable the industry to prepare for the changes in climate risk .

BANK Muamalat Malaysia Berhad was recently awarded the esteemed “ Most Improved Islamic Retail Bank in Malaysia 2023 ” and “ IRBA CEO of the Year 2023 ” awards at the 9th Islamic Retail Banking Awards ( IRBA ) 2023 ceremony .
The “ Most Improved Islamic Retail Bank in Malaysia 2023 ” award was conferred following comprehensive global ranking research conducted by the Cambridge Institute of Islamic Finance in collaboration with Hamdan Bin Mohamed Smart University , Dubai , United Arab Emirates ( UAE ).
“ We are grateful to be recognised as the “ Most Improved Islamic Retail Bank in Malaysia ,” expressed Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad President and Chief Executive Officer ( CEO ), Khairul Kamarudin .
“ It is a testament to Bank Muamalat ’ s commitment to making Islamic Financing accessible to all Malaysians , ensuring all can achieve better lives together .”
Khairul was also honoured with the “ IRBA ” CEO of the year 2023 ” award . The CEO was humbled , acknowledging the company ’ s success was attributed to the unwavering commitment and hard work of the Bank ’ s employees .

Celebrating safety

RECENTLY , a safety carnival was organised by the Persatuan Penduduk Taman Cahaya Alam ( PPTCA ) in Encorp Cahaya Alam . Sponsored by Encorp Berhad ( ENCORP ), the carnival generated awareness about the importance
of safety within the community , attracting more than 600 residents from Encorp Cahaya Alam and surrounding communities .
