A central hub for umrah travellers
Batik Air and Lion Air Group joined hands to make KLIA a central hub for umrah travellers
BUDGET airline Batik Air and its parent company , Lion Air Group , want to transform KL International Airport ( KLIA ) into a central hub for umrah travellers .
Umrah is a pilgrimage for Muslims to visit Masjid al-Haram in Mecca to renew their faith , pray and seek forgiveness .
Both airline companies had engaged with travel agents from Malaysia and Indonesia with the support of the Ministry of Tourism , Arts and Culture Malaysia .
The collaboration between the two airline companies was officiated at the Batik Air Engagement Event along with tour operators . The event was attended by 100 tour operators from Malaysia and Indonesia who were experts in umrah pilgrimage journeys .
Batik Air Group Strategy Director Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy said there was an increase in demand for umrah travel after introducing a non-stop service between Kuala Lumpur and Jeddah .
“ This surge underscores Batik Air ’ s steadfast commitment to addressing the increasing demand and delivering exceptional service to Muslim passengers in Malaysia and Indonesia ,” he added .

Eyes on the prize
SARAWAK aims to be part of the Muslim global supply chain , pointing out that the demand for halal goods and services is expected to increase , with global expenditure forecast to hit US $ 2.8 trillion by 2025 .
“ In this respect , Sarawak would like to be part of the global supply chain of the Muslim economies to provide not only halal products and services but also solutions to address global challenges such as climate change and food security ,” said Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Zohari Openg , during his speech at the Global Muslim Business Forum gala dinner .

Purging corruption
BANK Muamalat Malaysia Berhad recently launched its Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan ( OACP ) for 2023-2025 . This symbolises the company ’ s commitment to purging corruption and nurturing good governance , meeting the requirements outlined by the National Anti-Corruption Plan ( NACP ) 2019-2023 .
The OACP serves as the foundation of the company ’ s broader integrity agenda , seeking to establish a culture characterised by high levels of integrity and professionalism throughout its product and service delivery processes , essentially capturing the Bank ’ s brand purpose of ensuring “ Better lives , together ” for all .

Supporting these priorities , Bank Muamalat identified nine strategic objectives , including robust internal controls , enhanced accountability , and a strong focus on minimising risks of corruption .

Striking gold
TOURISM Malaysia recently received the gold Transportation , Travel & Tourism category award at the 2023 Putra Aria Brand Awards held at One World Hotel , Petaling Jaya .
The Aria Brands , also known as the People ’ s Choice Awards , was conceived in 2022 by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia ( 4As ) to acknowledge the brands with the most vital connection with Malaysians .
The acknowledgement was determined by 11,000 respondents who voluntarily participated in the eight-week long survey period from September to October 2023 .

The award received endorsement of MATRADE as the Brand Champion Partner , also being supported by the Malaysian Advertisers Association ( MAA ), the Media Specialists Association ( MSA ) and the Malaysian Digital Association ( MDA ).
Tourism Malaysia Director-General Datuk Dr Ammar Abd Ghapar , expressed : “ The year 2024 begins on a positive note with the reception of this award , marking the second consecutive recognition . This achievement significantly enhances our brand image and undoubtedly reflects the promotional endeavours undertaken by Tourism Malaysia .”
