THE 18th Malaysia International Halal Showcase ( MIHAS ) 2022 is undeniably the biggest halal event of the year .

Having the showcase on a hybrid format this year will help accelerate the recovery and expansion of many halal businesses , especially the ones badly hit by the pandemic . Last year ’ s MIHAS was a stunning success generating a record-breaking RM2.13 billion in exports . It was a bold decision by its organiser , the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation ( MATRADE ) to hold it virtually .
This year , the showcase will be held physically as well , enhancing networking and overall business transactions . MIHAS 2022 will be better and has valuable offerings for the industry – an exhibition , business matchings and a knowledge hub for industry players . Halal players can use MIHAS 2022 , a flagship event of MATRADE , as a platform to expand their businesses locally and abroad .
MIHAS 2022 will see participation from many wellknown names from various sectors which are keen to help grow the halal industry . For example , UOB Malaysia is participating in MIHAS 2022 by assisting halal SMEs grow their businesses . The bank provides various Shariah-compliant financial solutions for halal players .
For many years , MIHAS has also been organised side by side with another important and much-awaited event , the World Halal Business Conference ( WHBC ), previously known as the World Halal Conference . Interestingly , this year , the Halal Development Corporation Berhad ( HDC ), as the organiser of WHBC will take the branding to the international level .
Starting from Melbourne , Australia , the corporation plans to organise WHBC Circuit in other parts of the world , namely the United Kingdom , Qatar and Taiwan . This internationalisation initiative by HDC will set another milestone for Malaysia ’ s halal industry .
We hope these efforts by MATRADE and HDC in organising MIHAS 2022 and the WHBC Circuit respectively , will be well received by the industry and help motivate halal players , especially SMEs to expand their businesses and become world class players .
