Jardin Pharma ’ s co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer Yasir Ayeop said there is a growing demand for halal , natural , and organic products .

“ The Muslim population is fast growing , and demand for halal pharmaceuticals exists . The Muslim population will choose the former when presented with options between halal and nonhalal medicines ,” said Yasir .

“ Therefore , we choose to focus on the halal pharmaceutical and ensure that all our facilities and productions conform to halal standards and requirements .

“ At the same time , consumers are now more aware of eco and all-natural products . Yet , regarding pharmaceuticals , the eco factor is only limited to supplements . When it comes to drugs , most seem to overlook the eco factor and are more concerned on the safety and efficacy of the drug .”

As such , Jardin Pharma has identified tremendous potential for all-natural eco drugs , as many herbal ingredients have medicinal attributes that can be developed into drugs .

They are currently running research and trials in collaboration with public universities to identify and develop natural and eco drugs .

ALL-NATURAL AND ECO PRODUCTS

Apart from developing pharmaceutical drugs and medicines , Jardin Pharma ’ s existing nutraceutical and skincare products are natural and organic-based .

“ When we create our products , we

put the customer first . For example , most of the gummy vitamins on the market are very high in sugar , followed by high contents of colourings , preservatives and synthetic flavourings .

“ As for Jardin Pharma ’ s kids ’ vitamin and supplement gummies , we do not use colourings at all . And for the flavourings , instead of synthetic flavourings , it is extracted from the respective fruit itself .

“ For sugar content , we do not use high fructose corn syrup like most standard products . Instead , we use organic raw cane sugar .”

Jardin Pharma also started its CSR activities despite being new in the business as they were incorporated in 2021 .

“ We have kickstarted the school

visits , where we distribute our natural vitamin gummies to the kids .

“ Not everybody can afford to buy multivitamin gummies and supplements . We go to schools and distribute gummy vitamin packets to the school children .

“ We also open booths and market the gummies for the teachers and parents who are interested in purchasing the gummies .”

OPTIMISING MARKET ACCESS VIA COLLABORATIONS

Yasir noted that as Jardin Pharma was fairly a new company , they do not have much access throughout the market .

“ So , instead of us going into the market on our own and carving out a marking share from the bottom up , we choose to collaborate and have join ventures with existing companies .

“ We collaborate with other wellestablished companies which have the foundation and a piece of the market share .”

To approach and market their vitamin gummies to children and parents , Jardin Pharma collaborates with Durioo +, an animation house company that produces cartoons and caters to the children ’ s market .

Jardin Pharma has also joined hands with Elite Facilities International

Group ( EFIG ), an Arab company from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ( KSA )

“ They see the market potential and are very much interested in the products , and therefore they want to take the products and market to the KSA , the Gulf Arab States ( GCC ) and also the North African Middle East ( MENA ) regions .”

TAKING THE PHARMACY BUSINESS ONLINE

Launched in December 20221 , Herbitus . com is Jardin Pharma ’ s e-commerce website , selling various nutraceutical and skincare products . Since its launch , Herbitus . com has attracted a membership of over 10,000 people .

“ We are now expanding our product listing on the website and therefore accepting other local brands which produce halal and natural and eco-friendly products .

According to Yasir , they are currently in the works to develop the website to include telemedicine features and position Herbitus . com as an online pharmacy .

“ Currently , Herbitus . com only sells and distributes supplements and skincare products . We are now working on getting the licence to sell over-thecounter ( OTC ) medicines .” – Halal Xtra
