Y COMBINATOR and Gobi Partners led the seed funding round that brought in US $ 2.85 million ( RM12.3m ) for the Islamic video-streaming platform for youngsters known as Durioo +, based in Malaysia .
Also participating in this investment were individuals who had previously held positions at Meta , Google , and IQIYI , according to TechInAsia .
Sinan Ismail , the company ’ s founder , established Durioo + in February 2022 to offer Muslim youngsters an alternative form of educational entertainment . The Y Combinator winter batch in which the startup participated and eventually

graduated was in the same year .
Since then , Durioo + has not only developed 20 original programmes but also licensed over 1,500 episodes of episodes from other shows such as Baby Shark and Upin & Ipin .
The company claims that it has also accumulated more than 22,000 subscribers . The subscription fee for the platform is around US $ 7.99 per month or US $ 79.99 per year .
The young company has stated that it intends to broaden its viewing base to the UK , the United States , Indonesia , the Middle East , and North Africa over the next five years .
