AS the global halal economy continues its rapid expansion, Thailand is stepping confidently into the spotlight with the launch of Grand Halal Bangkok 2026, an international exhibition poised to become a key meeting point for global halal trade.
Set in one of Southeast Asia’ s most vibrant commercial hubs, the event is designed not merely as a showcase, but as a strategic platform connecting international buyers with Thailand’ s rapidly growing halal industry.

Thailand’ s halal sector continues to gain global recognition, supported by close collaboration between government bodies and Islamic authorities, as well as a strong infrastructure that ensures compliance with international halal standards. For international buyers, this translates into confidence, consistency, and access to products that meet the demands of increasingly discerning markets.
Thailand continues to advance its position in the global halal economy as the National Food Institute of Thailand and the Central Islamic Council of Thailand( CICOT) formalise a strategic collaboration to accelerate the country’ s halal industry onto the international stage.
During a recent coordination meeting, both organisations outlined a practical cooperation framework to drive the“ Grand Halal” initiative, with a focus on delivering concrete support to Thai halal entrepreneurs and strengthening Thailand’ s competitiveness in the global halal market.
A key pillar of this collaboration is enhancing international halal certification connectivity through a Mutual Recognition Arrangement( MRA) mechanism. The network currently encompasses 156 certification bodies across 54 countries, significantly expanding trade opportunities for Thai halal products and services worldwide.
CROSS-SECTOR COLLABORATION
To ensure a holistic and integrated approach, the initiative will also engage cross-sector collaboration with four key ministries: Ministry of Tourism and Sports Ministry of Culture Ministry of Public Health Ministry of Industry
This multi-agency alignment is designed to strengthen Thailand’ s halal ecosystem across tourism, cultural industries, healthcare, and food production, positioning the country as a comprehensive regional halal hub.
As part of the strategic roadmap, CICOT is considering appointing the National Food Institute as a pre-audit body for halal certification, aligned with the operational framework of the Halal Industry Development Centre. This initiative is expected to enhance efficiency, credibility, and standardisation within Thailand’ s halal certification processes.
In parallel, the National Food Institute is preparing a list of 40 entrepreneurs to participate in a provincial-level support program in collaboration with Islamic provincial committees. This initiative aligns with the objectives of the Fiscal Year 2026 programme, which aims to strengthen grassroots capabilities and enhance market readiness among Thai halal businesses.
