 IDB pledges RM825.4m for education campaign Aims to strengthen education systems in lower-income countries
 The Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank ( IsDB ) has pledged US $ 200 million to the 2021- 2025 Raise Your Hand financing campaign of the Global Partnership for Education ( GPE ), according to Arab News .
 GPE is a partnership and funding platform that aims to strengthen education systems in lower-income countries and increase the number of children in school and learning .
 The announcement was made at the Middle East launch of GPE ’ s Case for Investment . It called on global leaders to pledge at least US $ 5 billion ( RM20.63b ) toward education in 90 lower-income countries and territories .
 “ Our objective is to raise US $ 400 million ( RM1,650b ) in the Arab countries ,” Serigne Mbaye Thiam , GPE board vice-chair and Senegal ’ s minister of water and sanitation , told Arab News on the first day of his three-day visit to Saudi Arabia .
 “ GPE welcomes this generous pledge from leading regional organisations . We believe this is going to encourage other funds to contribute .”

 “ With contributions from donors like the IsDB and Dubai Cares , GPE ’ s financing campaign is an opportunity for Arab leaders to step up and transform the education system for the world ’ s most vulnerable children with a chance to learn and access education .
 “ We know that the Middle Eastern countries have a deeply rooted tradition of generosity and dedication to quality education .
 “ Gulf countries have played a vital role in supporting education systems in lower-income countries . Education is the key to creating a more peaceful , equitable and prosperous world ,” Thiam added .
 The Raise Your Hand campaign will culminate on July 28-29 , 2021 , in London at a landmark summit to finance GPE . The conference will be co-hosted by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta , Thiam said .

 THE Food Safety and Halal Food Authority , Khyber Pakhtunkhwa , has intensified a crackdown on substandard food items .
 It discarded 5,000 litres of spurious beverages in various operations conducted in the province , Pakistan Point News reported in April .
 According to the authority ’ s spokesman , the team concerned sealed a factory in the Domail area of Bannu for producing substandard beverages . Similarly , the Food Safety and Halal Food Authority ’ s team also visited a bazaar in Dir Lower . They discarded 2,000 litres of unhealthy edible oil .
 Meanwhile , Director-General Food Safety Authority Shah Rukh Ali Khan said a crackdown had been intensified across the province . This is to ensure that the masses got quality food items during Ramadhan .
 He added no one would be allowed to take the law into his own hand . Stern action would be taken against unlawful and unethical business elements .

 Riz Global Foods joins forces with TrustBIX
 TRUSTBIX Inc signed a Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU ) with Canadian-based Riz Global Foods Inc ( Riz Global ) in April where the company ’ s BIX platform will be used to provide traceability for halal lifestyle products marketed by Riz Global .

 The halal economy will grow to US $ 3.2 trillion by 2024 , according to the second edition of the Halal Guidebook entitled ‘ Dubai – A Global Gateway for Halal Industry : A Stepby-Step Guide ’ authored by the Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority .
