THE SAUDI International Halal Expo 2022 acted as an excellent platform for halal players to explore opportunities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia . Organised by 1st Arabia Tradeshows & Conferences , the expo featured exhibitors from various parts of the world – exchanging knowledge and experiences .

The expo was held in Riyadh , more than 3,000 miles away from Kuala Lumpur . Interestingly , all halal players highly recognised Malaysia ' s halal standard at the event despite the distance . These industry players acknowledged Malaysia ' s importance in halal industry development , placing the country ' s halal standard as ' the standard ' one must follow .

Undeniably , this is all thanks to the hard work of Malaysian authorities , who have been working tirelessly to ensure the success of Malaysia ' s halal industry . Even after decades , the country ' s iconic halal logo is still sought-after by many .

Whilst these foreign players emphasise and appreciate Malaysia ' s halal certification , some local businesses still take it for granted . Many SMEs still do not see the importance of obtaining halal certification .

Being Malaysian-based players , they should be the first to apply and explore how such a certification can add value to their businesses . Malaysia ' s halal certification is like a ticket for them to expand their businesses on a grander scale .

Some may be pointing out the stringent application process ( which is not all true ) but missing the point where the certification will help them convince buyers who seek halal goods globally . It all will be worth the journey .

Nevertheless , @ Halal ' s trip to the Saudi International Halal Expo 2022 was a great experience . Besides making new friends with industry players globally , the event is a reminder of Malaysia ' s notable halal achievements .

Despite being a small country , Malaysia has shown the world how it organically grows its halal economy . Hopefully , this momentum will continue in 2023 . p10-12
