As mentioned earlier , entrepreneurship development significantly contributes to the economic development of both developed and developing countries . The term is frequently used as a symbol of creating jobs and innovation that benefits society . Entrepreneurship is an endeavour that engages industry players who have good intentions in striving for solid socio-economic development , which also leads to prosperity for the general populace .
According to the Pew Research Center ( 2016 ), the Muslim population has been growing twice as fast as the world population between 2015 and 2060 and will be the largest religious group by then .
The term entrepreneurship stems from the French word “ entreprendre ” which suggests “ to accomplish something ” or “ to embrace ”. It is an imaginative activity that relies upon the ability to make and set up something from

nothing . Generally , entrepreneurship emerges as a development strategy that enhances the well-being of people , communities , and nations . ( Jaziri & Boussaffa 2012 ).
Zimmerer , Scarborough , and Wilson ( 2002 ) defined an entrepreneur as “ one who creates a new business in the face of risk and uncertainty to achieve profit and growth by identifying opportunities and assembling the necessary resources to capitalise on them . One of the main functions of entrepreneurial activities is to provide products and services to society ( consumers ) that will add value and enhance their quality of life ( Figure 2 ).
Several salient points differentiate Halalpreneurship from entrepreneurship . The points are concept , what to produce , how to produce , for whom to produce , the scope of knowledge , motivational factors , and stakeholders . Additionally , the specific characteristics of halalpreneurs make them unique and differentiated from conventional entrepreneurs .
Some of these characteristics include fear of Allah , the nature of prioritising prayer , truthfulness , philanthropism , and knowledge of Islamic law . The halal industry was constructed by “ 4P ” elements such as product ,

process , premise , and people .
The food service establishments must implement the Halal Assurance System and adhere to the 4Ps ( people , premises , products , processes involving production and manufacturing – Figure 3 ). Food service industries must inevitably produce wholesome and secure food for consumption , and this quality must be certified for the safety guarantee held by the food premises that satisfies the requirements ( Lodhi , 2009 ; Khan , 2009 ; Tieman , 2011 ).
HALAL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
Entrepreneurship education is another important aspect of producing successful and sustainable Islamic entrepreneurship . Various forms of entrepreneurship education are suited to different age groups and populations of potential entrepreneurs , either in a formal university curriculum or informally via various programmes and courses ( Figure 4 ).
Halal Business Management is a concept based on the paradigm that Islam influences the choices of Muslim consumers . Therefore , all marketing activities must follow Islamic laws , principles and guidelines . It involves halal certification , marketing of halal prod-
