A first for Malaysia

TH Properties Sdn Bhd , a whollyowned subsidiary of Tabung Haji ( TH ), formed a strategic partnership with SD Guthrie Bhd ( SD Guthrie ). The partnership seeks to drive growth through various investments and development projects .

At present , the current focus is on the establishment of Malaysia ’ s first Halal Malaysia ( HALMAS ) -certified managed industrial park . The park , which spans 187.77 hectares , is located in Bukit Pelandok , Negeri Sembilan .
The two companies formalised their commitment to this development by signing a Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU ).
Not to mention , the industrial park is also part of the Malaysia Vision Valley 2.0 ( MVV 2.0 ) plan , with the land ’ s estimated market value exceeding RM220 million .
Situated only 16 kilometres from Kuala Lumpur International Airport ( KLIA ) and linked by a major highway network , the park is ideally positioned for businesses .
TH Properties board member Dato Wan Hashimi Albakri Jaffri showed optimism regarding the new development . He believes it will have an essential role in bolstering the MVV 2.0 initiative , promoting economic growth , and creating job opportunities .
SD Guthrie Group Managing Director Mohamad Helmy Othman Basha highlighted the development ’ s proximity to existing technology parks . He noted that this would provide small and midsize enterprises ( SMEs ) with a unique opportunity to benefit from the available facilities and business ecosystem .

SD Guthrie intend to explore additional collaboration opportunities . The next phase of the project may see the set-up of additional facilities .
Following the successful establishment of Techpark 1 and Techpark 2 in Bandar Enstek , the Bukit Pelandok project and Techpark 3 are positioned to become Malaysia ’ s top halal hubs .
There will be a variety of purpose-built factory options . These include detached , semi-detached , and linked units , as well as
vacant industrial plots tailored to diverse business needs . Regardless , the project will seamlessly integrate sustainability practices and set new standards for the Bukit Pelandok community .
Techpark 3 is expected to achieve sales performance comparable to its predecessors . With a gross development value ( GDV ) of RM1.4 billion , Techpark 3 is anticipated to reach full occupancy for its first phase , covering 76 hectares , this year , with strong interest from both local and multinational parties .

Timor-Leste gifts land

THE Timor-Leste government has granted Malaysia 0.6 hectares of land as a symbolic gesture to strengthen bilateral relations .
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development , Dato Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi , revealed plans to utilise the land for the construction of the Malaysian Embassy and other initiatives aimed at benefitting Malaysians residing in Timor-Leste .
Zahid met with the President of Timor-Leste José Ramos-Horta , Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão , and several other leaders during his official visit to Timor-Leste .
Several meetings and discussions were held , focusing on sectors such as rural development , housing , and the halal industry . They also addressed the empowerment of the growing tourism sector .
Zahid , who also serves as the chairman of the Halal Industry Development Council , highlighted Malaysia ’ s intent to support the halal industry in Timor-Leste .
He had requested the Halal Development Corporation ( HDC ) and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia ( JAKIM ) to assist Timor-Leste in establishing their own certification body .
This initiative seeks to develop the halal potential in Timor-Leste while also promoting more robust economic ties .
There were also talks on Timor-Leste ’ s efforts to become a new member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ( ASEAN ).
Furthermore , Zahid suggested that TradeInvest Timor-Leste conduct a trade and investment mission to Malaysia . This would allow them to explore various investment opportunities that could be beneficial for both countries .
As part of Malaysia ’ s Southto-South Cooperation , the nation aims to share its expertise with Timor-Leste through the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme ( MTCP ). So far , Malaysia has provided training and technical assistance to 781 participants from Timor-Leste .
According to Zahid , The Institute for Rural Advancement ( INFRA ) will arrange for Timor- Leste ’ s leaders and government officials involved in rural development to visit Malaysia . He believes that the visit will provide them with opportunities to conduct case studies .

between the University of Kuala Lumpur ( UniKL ) and the Ministry of Higher Education of Timor-Leste . This agreement would lead to the establishment of a Technical and Vocational Education and Training ( TVET ) centre in Timor-Leste .
In addition to this , UniKL announced that it will be providing scholarships to 50 students from Timor-Leste for postgraduate studies .
