TAPPING HALAL MARKETS: These new partnerships strengthen trade and market opportunities.
MALAYSIA’ S halal ecosystem is paving the way for agricultural products from China’ s Shandong province to reach local consumers and those across the wider region.
The initiative was highlighted at the second‘ Remarkable Shandong’ Agricultural Trade( Malaysia) Expo 2026, which opened at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Monday. Nearly 100 companies are participating, introducing more than 1,100 agricultural and food products to the Malaysian market.
For Shandong, Malaysia offers more than market access at home. According to Duan Youchen, vicechairman of Shandong Agricultural Group Co Ltd, Malaysia’ s globally recognised halal certification system could help open doors for Shandong’ s agricultural products across Southeast Asia and beyond.
The expo opened new partnership opportunities for Malaysian businesses across sourcing, distribution, and market expansion.
Five agreements were signed in areas including agricultural trade, agri-food, cattle, and the halal industries, with local firms such as Nozoly Food Industry Sdn Bhd and Metrobiz Marketing Sdn Bhd joining Shandong-based partners.
The agreements will connect Shandong’ s producers with Malaysian businesses and open additional markets for halalcertified local products.
The expo showcases a wide range of products, from fresh produce and grains to prepared foods, meat, seafood, ingredients, condiments, tea, beverages and dairy.
Five Malaysian organisations, including the Halal Development Corporation Berhad( HDC), are also participating to highlight local capabilities.
Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce vice-president Datuk See Meng Geok said that closer cooperation can combine Shandong’ s manufacturing strengths with Malaysia’ s halal certification expertise and international market connections, ultimately benefiting the local economy.
Shandong remains China’ s top agricultural exporter for the 26th consecutive year, with exports worth 166.83 billion yuan in 2025. The partnership helps Malaysia strengthen its position as a halal hub and boosts local industry and employment.
Growth with integrity
MIXUE Malaysia is entering a new phase, shifting its focus from rapid expansion to a more disciplined, long-term growth strategy centred on halal compliance and product quality.
According to the company, this next phase will prioritise safety, quality, and stronger operational standards across its business. This includes more rigorous attention to raw materials, beverage preparation, and store management.
A key element of this strategy is halal compliance. MIXUE Malaysia is not only strengthening halal practices across all operations but also working to increase the number of outlets certified by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia( JAKIM).
This renewed focus comes as the brand looks beyond opening new outlets, emphasising the importance of maintaining consistent standards as its network grows. For consumers, this means greater care in how products are handled, from ingredients through to preparation and service.
MIXUE Malaysia emphasises that safety and quality are the cornerstones of its long-term development. To support this, the company is strengthening supply chain management and ensuring that franchisees and outlet teams are fully prepared to meet its standards.
The company is also enhancing training and operational management to ensure more consistent practices across all outlets. These efforts aim to support the brand’ s continued development while maintaining high standards of product and service quality.
