THE inaugural Selangor International Halal Convention & Selangor Halal Industry Expo ( SELHAC ) was on Mar 4-6 , 2022 , at the Shah Alam Convention Centre

( SACC ).
SELHAC , organised by the Selangor government in collaboration with Halal International Selangor ( HIS ), serves as the platform for local entrepreneurs to introduce their services to the public . It featured three components : forums , expos , and business matchings .
The event also featured more than 100 exhibitors from 40 companies comprising six clusters ; food , pharmaceutical , cosmetics , tourism , fashion and halal ingredients .
SELHAC was inaugurated on Mar 5 by Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni , Chairman of the Standing Committee on Islamic Religion , Consumers and Halal Industry .
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Dato Abdul Halim Hussain ( Exco Trade , Industry and Entrepreneur Development Co-Chairman of Penang Halal International ) and Dato Dr Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek ( Exco Industrial Investment , Entrepreneurship , Education & Human Capital , Negeri Sembilan government ).
EXPO AND BUSINESS MATCHINGS
The three-day expo featured 105 booths and 79 exhibiting companies consisting of small & medium enterprises ( SMEs ), government agencies , GLC Selangor , and Negeri Sembilan and Penang participants . Visitors numbered almost 5000 , with an estimated sales value worth RM300,000 .
A Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU ) signing ceremony between HIS Toyyiba Sdn Bhd and Penang Halal International Sdn Bhd was also held during the expo .
Zawawi and Abdul Halim Hussain witnessed the MoU .
Meanwhile , the Selangor Halal Industry Business Matching was conducted on Mar 4-5 , involving 13 companies for both local and international markets .
A total of 129 businesses , consisting of 58 men and 71 women , participated in the business matching sessions , with 297 successful transactions valued at RM37.73 million .
The business matching also resulted in a successful deal for Hasz Trading to supply its Harraz Chewme products to 600 Petronas chains throughout peninsular Malaysia .

SELANGOR HALAL INDUSTRY FORUM
The first forum session , Selangor Halal Industry Forum 1.0 , was on Dec 29 , 2021 , at Mardhiyyah Hotel & Suites , Shah Alam .
The forum featured a panel discussion entitled “ Halal Industry Driving the Post-Pandemic Economy ”. The panellists were National Halal expert Amri Abdullah and the Director of the Institut Halal Antarabangsa ( INSHA ) & Director of the Pusat Penyelidikan dan Jaringan Industri ( CRIL ) UNISEL , Ts Dr Moohamad Ropaning Sulong .
The forum was held in a hybrid format , with 160 physical participants and 100 participating online via Zoom people . The discussion was also streamed live on the official SELHAC Facebook page with a total of 9,800 viewers , making the total number of participants 10,060 .
On Feb 8 , 2022 , the Halal Industry Forum 2.0 was held at Selangor International Islamic University College ( KUIS ), Bandar Seri Putra , Kajang , Selangor . The forum had a combined number of participations of 20,338 people from the physical and virtual platforms .
The Halal Industry Forum 3.0 was held in conjunction with the Halal Industry Expo on Mar 5 and featured four forum sessions comprising 12 panellists and four moderators from Malaysia and abroad ,
Among the panel members , experts in their respective fields were from JAKIM , MATRADE , HDC , Northport ( M ) Bhd , Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad , Nestle Berhad and Duopharma Biotech Berhad . Overseas panellists were from US , Turkey , Dubai and Indonesia . They shared and commented in the forum sessions , discussing issues related to the halal industry .
This forum was held physically with the participation of 180 people , 312 Zoom meeting participations and 2,650 Facebook live stream viewers . - Special Edition
