ASEAN member States have committed to establishing the ASEAN AI Safety Network( ASEAN AI Safe) to ensure responsible AI adoption throughout the region.

Announced at the 47th ASEAN Leaders Summit, this collaborative framework aims to enhance regional cooperation on AI governance while promoting safety and ethical considerations in AI deployment.

The ASEAN AI Safe initiative is not merely a regulatory effort; it embodies a comprehensive approach to foster a collaborative environment for AI adoption across diverse member states.

Recognising the varying levels of digital maturity within ASEAN, the framework is designed to be inclusive, enabling each nation to participate and benefit from shared resources and expertise. This inclusivity ensures that no country is left behind in harnessing the benefits of AI technologies.

By establishing a regional mechanism to support the Digital Senior Officials ' Meeting and the Working Group on AI Governance, ASEAN aims to enhance collaboration among member states and promote research and innovation in AI safety.

The initiative serves as a platform for dialogue, information sharing, and cooperative policies that can drive ethical AI practices, ultimately ensuring a safer technological landscape.

MALAYSIA ' S PIONEERING EFFORTS

As the ASEAN Chair for 2025, Malaysia has taken a proactive role in spearheading the ASEAN AI Safe initiative.
