Colonic hydrotherapy for intestinal cleansing

45-year-old lady had been suffering from migraines, lactose intolerance, fatigue, pains in her left leg and abdomen, as well as in her lower back for over 10 years. She was equally dependent on pain relievers and laxatives as she was unable to pass stool without the aid of laxatives.
Although in the beginning the laxatives were working fine, as time passed, her colon became reliant on them and she had to increase the dosage just to pass motion. As adviced by her doctor, consuming more fibre did not help either.
If these sounds familiar, you aren’ t alone. Holistic Ayurose director Dr Ameen explained to The HEALTH that a person is perceived to have a clean stomach after suffering from diarrhea.
“ However, the stomach is never clean because the waste creeps in, goes and hangs around where bacteria and parasites starts to grow. This is what causes colon inflammation

Common pathologies of a colon.
LONG strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration and tapping accompanied with essential oils can be soothing to sore muscles. Sought-after by many today, this therapy dates back to ancient cultures as early as 2700 BCE.
Originating from“ The Yellow Emperor’ s Classic Book of Internal Medicine” for acupuncture, acupressure and herbology, to medical tradition of the Egyptians in 2500 BCE, 1500 BCE in India on Ayurvedic medication and the famous stone relief in Borobudor, Jawa in the 8th and 9th century, it all attest to the use of massage therapy as a healing method.

He then likened the colon to a long pipe which is 33 foot long that is frequently abused with the types of food and the drinks which causes degenerative disorders to happen.
“ Most of the disorders are digestive related like diabetes, liver problem, constipation, piles, diarrhea and food allergies.
“ In addition, the good bacteria completely degenerates with antibiotics or when we drink water with high chlorine levels. This causes the colon to become sluggish as there is no space for the waste matter to hang on for too long. As a result, the colon expands— to balloon out— and the waste matters start accumulating deep internally,” he added.
When these matters are not taken out of the gut, there is no way that good bacteria can flourish for a proper digestive system.
What is Colon Hydrotherapy
Ameen explained that colon hydrotherapy is a gentle way of infusing sterilised water into the colon via the rectum to remove encrusted fecal matter and gas.
“ During the proses, the machine monitors the pressure, temperature and the flow. So, it’ s basically, a very controlled, safe environment to clean up the Cecum( cecum), the Descending( descending) colon and the Ascending( ascending) colon,” he said.
Although the proses itself is said to be gentle, some 100 to 200 litres of water is used to go a lot deeper during the proses.
According to Ameen, some individuals literarily fall asleep, while some others may find it slightly sensitive due to inflammation in the gut.
Age requirement
The treatment can be done for those who are 13 years and above until the age of 70.
“ But again, the matter is very subjective as there are contra-indications of very high blood pressure, heart problems and other medical conditions in which cases we will not do it,” Ameen said.
Long time benefits
Colon hydrotherapy is said to improve digestion, absorption rate, regulate bacterial balance, and improve bowel movement, while lowering the kind of allergies and aiding in weight loss.
explained to The HEALTH that massage is an alternative treatment to promote blood circulation to aid the healing proses of joint pain and muscular discomfort, relieving stress and migraine upon releasing endorphins to promote overall wellbeing.
“ For joint and muscular discomfort, massage should be done twice to three times a month. However, once a month would suffice if it is to relieve stress,” she said. According to her, different strokes are used for different age groups – from babies, children from six to 12 years of age, adult to senior citizens and mothers who undergo postnatal treatment.
Although massage parlours are a plenty, Nazeera advised users to practice caution as untrained therapist may apply the wrong amount of pressure which may cause more harm than good.

IS your quality of life effected by pain, due to injuries or chronic condition? Has your visits to the physiotherapist drained you financially while you suffer recurring pain after a few hours of relieve? As this is so, have you become dependent on pain killers in a futile attempt to numb the pain?

Diamagnetic Physio Centre chief executive officer Albert Yesudian( pic) who spoke to The HEALTH explained that people live longer and are ageing which may cause them to prolonged pain.
“ We all have experienced pain in one time or the other and typically would try self-medication. Pain is divided into two – chronic and acute. If its acute pain, it disappears, if chronic – it remains for a longer period of time when a person would see the doctor. The doctors may give you a set of pain-killers,” he said.
However, he emphasised that putting them on long time medication like pain killers and so on may cause more harm than good like damaging the liver and kidney.
“ So patients may divert to alternative treatment such as conventional physio centres. There, therapist will basically take the patients history, do assessment, manipulation, massage and exercise,” he said.
Although the centre offers the same treatment by physiotherapist as the others, Albert was fast to point out that the combined treatment with the CTU-Mega 18 Diamagnetic Device from France was what made patients see fast, effective long-lasting results.
Albert explained that the CTU-Mega 18 system generates very high intensity magnetic fields thus accelerating molecules away from the magnetic fields.
Unlike any other physical therapy machines, he said that the high speed variation in the magnetic field at one micro second and the super short duration of the magnetic pulses at one mili second make for an efficient and sustained delivery system into the deep tissue region.
“ Stimulation occurs at a cellular level, allowing deeper penetration than traditional electrical therapy which may aggravate already inflamed tissue,” he said.
Treatment is at 0 per cent payment for individuals covered by insurance and Perkeso. However, patients need to get a referral letter from the government or private medical centre to apply for guarantee letter from insurance companies.
