Live to a 100 Longevity conference discusses the secrets to graceful ageing for all L ongevity – Hope for Change was a wellness conference that took place on 5 to 7 July, 2019. With their slogan “LIVE TO A 100!” the confer- ence that revolves around healthy ageing was officiated by Tn Hj Khalid Samad, The Minister of Federal Territories. Featuring top doctors and healthcare providers, the gathering was aimed to have a pool of experts to discuss and inform the audience on the issues and advancement made by the latest technology and findings in the medici- nal field. Bringing the ageing experts together Dr Sanjay explains the gathering at Longevity KL brings experts on ageing from all corners of the globe. The methods in graceful ageing incorporates good nutrition and technology, according to Dr Homer Lim. “Longevity conference will bring together the leading minds from local and world renowned international speakers, the private sector, and healthcare providers to discuss and sharing experience on how to enhance and achieve healthy aging for all,” said Dr Maziah Yaacob, the Organising Chairman. Technology advancement has seen to be one of the pillar necessity of the improvement in the field. By using the latest technologies and methodologies, living to a hundred years old is no longer a dream. By focusing on prevention care, the conference highlighted the impor- tance of living a healthy lifestyle for the ageing public. The ultimate dream The Malaysian Palm Oil Board also joined the conference to advocate healthy eating via palm oil. It is everybody’s dream to age healthily. To venture into the retirement days without any chronic diseases or com- plications. With the current technology; according to Dr Sanjay Kapur, “I call it graceful ageing, having the ability to make people live longer but with a better quality of life.” During our interview with the world-renowned speaker, he claims that “things have started to change quickly. Back then, the anti-ageing process was much more slower. While technologies progress, so does our methods. We have access to all these latest, more capable equipment and we want to motivate every healthcare doctors to start using them.” Dr Homer Lim stated, “Not everything in the medical book that was written more than 300 years ago can be used today. In this century, we can use light, sounds, frequencies to treat patients without the unwanted side effects. I hope the attendees are able to see and realise that these things are not just for show, these things will work.” The advancement made in the last decade has placed the healthcare practitioners at a new era. “We can achieve longevity if we’re using these current advancement in medicine. You can’t get younger with pills. If you can change your lifestyle, you can take some supplement and with the current medical technologies that’s out there we can make you live for 200 – 250 years old,” Dr Lim claimed. City to thrive for the ageing Various health and anti-aging products were promoted during the conference at the Putrajaya Mariott Hotel. During the symposium, The Honourable Minister YB Tuan Haji Khalid announced that Putrajaya will be marked as a ‘Longevity City’. The concept is similar to the city Okinawa in Japan. In hope of achieving healthy, longevity for all; the organisers planned on doing regular health screening and coaching for the selected community in Putrajaya to ensure a healthier population. The sequel of the event is expected to be in August 2020, and will also be commenced in Putrajaya. — The Health
