A New Vision
AS OPTOMETRISTS , we have the responsibility to help people see clearly and , therefore , impact learning at schools and universities , productivity and safety at work , performance at sports , and appreciation of life . But more importantly , we can prevent blindness by screening for eye diseases .
As optometrists in Asia , we can work together , especially to get our government and authorities to provide a clear and easy way for people to identify centres and optometrists that provide comprehensive eye care services .
This effort will make quality eyecare more accessible to the public . Eye diseases such as glaucoma , diabetic retinopathy , and age-related macular degeneration can be detected much earlier and referred to ophthalmologists for immediate intervention .
