The introduction of Sabah ’ s first Hyperthermia Machine marks a significant step in creating a healthier and better hope for cancer patients in the state , said Minister of Community Development and People ’ s Well-being ( KPMKR ), Datuk James Ratib . He said this ground-breaking development is celebrated as a testament to Sabah ’ s commitment to healthcare innovation and a determination to provide cutting-edge solutions for its residents .
Ratib said the launch represents a pivotal moment in healthcare , particularly in treating challenging diseases like cancer . He emphasised the government ’ s responsibility to ensure that healthcare services are accessible to individuals from all walks of life . This commitment extends to enhancing healthcare quality , ultimately benefiting the people of Sabah .
In recent years , the Sabah government has taken proactive measures to address healthcare delivery within the region . Ratib noted the efforts to promote awareness and training in healthcare , including a recent initiative in collaboration with Cyberjaya Central College Kota

The Minister called for collective efforts to create a healthier and more hopeful environment for cancer patients in Sabah . He highlighted
of Islamic Development Malaysia ( JAKIM ) concerning Halal certification . The system also serves as a reminder for the operations team regarding the expiration dates of certifications for raw materials and products and other Standard Operating Procedures .

The Launching Project of the first Hyperthermia Machine in Sabah took place at the Le Meridien Hotel in Kota Kinabalu recently . The Minister ’ s speech was read by KPMKR Deputy Permanent Secretary Maria David Edick , who represented him at the event .
The launch of Sabah ’ s first Hyperthermia Machine is part of a collaborative effort involving the University of Cyberjaya , Cyberjaya College Kota Kinabalu , Klinik Famili Dr Juliana , Adipolabs Malaysia , and Adipolabs Korea . “ This endeavour underscores the collective commitment to “ Empowering Lives through Innovation ,” aiming to revolutionise healthcare and offer new hope to cancer patients in Sabah ,” he said .

HEALTH Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa , received the title of Outstanding Alumnus from the UKM Faculty of Medicine recently . This recognition celebrated her remarkable career , including her tenure in the highest government position at the Ministry of Health ( MoH ) Malaysia .
Expressing her profound gratitude , Dr Zaliha thanked UKM and the Faculty of Medicine for this honour , reflecting her pride in the knowledge and experience she gained at the institution . The award was presented by Prof Emeritus Dato ’ Dr Mohamad Abd Razak , Chairman of the Board of Directors of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia ( UKM ).
In her address , Dr Zaliha spoke on the challenges and future of the healthcare system , emphasising the importance of addressing public health issues in Malaysia . She also shared insights from her time as a student at the faculty between 1983 and 1989 . She highlighted the transformation in learning resources and technology available to students today .
This event aimed to inspire medical students as they embark on their careers , focusing on eye health as a critical aspect of well-being .
Dr Zaliha also inaugurated the Outstanding Alumnus Room , located in the Preclinical Building of the UKM Faculty of Medicine . This room featured profiles of five distinguished alumni from the Faculty of Medicine and multimedia presentations about other outstanding alumni .
Dr Zaliha made history as Malaysia ’ s first female Health Minister , a role she assumed on Dec 3 , 2022 . She previously served as Political Secretary to Dato ’ Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail , then Minister of Women , Family , and Community Development . She became the Member of Parliament for Sekijang , Johor Bahru following her victory in the 15th General Election .
Dr Zaliha joins a distinguished list of Outstanding Alumni from the UKM Faculty of Medicine , including Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah ( 2020 ), Datuk Dr Rohaizat Yon ( 2021 ) and Prof Emeritus Dato ’ Dr Lokman Saim ( 2022 ).
The prestigious event was attended by senior management from UKM , faculty leadership , high-ranking officials from the MoH , fellow alumni , faculty lecturers , and UKM Faculty of Medicine students .
