RECOGNISING EXCELLENCE: Recipients of the 4th Golden Physician Awards celebrate their achievements.

UTSTANDING practitioners were recognised at the Federation of Chinese Physicians and Acupuncturists Associations Malaysia( FCPAAM) Gala Night and 4th Golden Physician Awards, with the evening also highlighting the changes shaping the Traditional Chinese Medicine( TCM) profession.

The event highlighted the contributions of those who have helped develop Malaysia ' s TCM sector. At the same time, discussions following the night focused on how the profession can continue to evolve through innovation, research, regulation and stronger collaboration.

FCPAAM president Ng Poh Kok said the profession must be prepared to work alongside emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence( AI), as it becomes increasingly embedded in healthcare.

He said AI is already being used in areas such as disease diagnosis, health management and medical research, and could help TCM practitioners analyse data, integrate medical records, assist with diagnosis and improve treatment efficiency.

However, Ng stressed that technology should complement rather than replace practitioners, given that TCM still depends on clinical experience, communication and a holistic understanding of patients.

" AI will not replace TCM practitioners. However, TCM practitioners who know how to use AI will lead the future ".

PREPARING FOR TOMORROW

Ng also said the Golden Physician Awards should serve a purpose beyond recognising excellence by encouraging practitioners to uphold professional standards, embrace innovation, and continue developing their expertise.

He said FCPAAM hoped to establish the awards as a credible and influential professional recognition in Malaysia and
