European Wellness launches in Sabah

Etiqa ’ s e-Takaful for PERKESO

EUROPEAN Wellness , a global leader in regenerative medicine , has launched its latest facility , the European Wellness New Premier Centre , in Kota Kinabalu , Sabah . This 60,000 sq ft centre will enhance Sabah ’ s healthcare capabilities and position the region as a key player in medical wellness tourism .

The inauguration ceremony on Sep 21 was attended by prominent figures , including Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and Advisor to the President of the UAE , Dr . Khalid Abdulla Mubarak .
The centre , developed by EW founders Prof Datuk Sri Dr Mike Chan and Prof Datuk Sri Dr Michelle Wong , integrates advanced medical science with Sabah ’ s natural environment .
Hajiji praised the project , calling it transformative for the region ’ s healthcare and its global standing in medical tourism .
“ This centre combines cutting-edge medical science with our natural assets , boosting our healthcare sector and putting Sabah on the global map .”
A SPIRITUAL organisation from India has announced plans to build a 500-bed charitable hospital near the second Penang bridge , with an estimated cost of RM2 billion . Once completed in 2025 , the project is expected to create approximately 2,000 jobs .
The Amrita Charitable Hospital is an initiative led by Mata Amritanandamayi , widely known as Amma , a revered Indian spiritual leader and humanitarian .
Amma , who is renowned for her global charitable efforts , including establishing a 1,450- bed hospital in Kerala in 1998 and constructing a 2,000-bed facility in New Delhi , has a significant following in Malaysia . Her visits to the country have drawn large crowds , eager to receive her blessings .
Dr Khalid highlighted the significance of the centre ’ s stem cell therapy advancements and stressed the importance of making such treatments more accessible . He also recognised Sabah ’ s potential as a leading destination for medical wellness tourism .

In Malaysia , the first Amrita Hospital will operate under the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences , offering a 250-station dialysis centre , 150 intensive care unit ( ICU ) beds , and 100 standard beds .
According to Pertubuhan Penganut Mata Amritanandamayi Malaysia Trustee and Secretary- General K Kalidas , the hospital will operate on a sliding scale payment system , where patients contribute what they can afford , with free treatment provided to those in severe hardship .
Kalidas highlighted that the hospital ’ s goal is to provide accessible healthcare , particularly benefitting the northern region of Malaysia , and will also create substantial employment opportunities in the healthcare sector .

The health score , developed using blood test results and anthropometric data , ranges from 0 to 100 , with 100 representing the lowest risk of developing chronic diseases .
This score provides a practical and objective assessment of an individual ’ s health , helping users make informed decisions and adopt proactive health management strategies .
