PRECISION SURGERY: HMI Medical unveils Malaysia ' s first robotic-assisted surgical systems.
IN a significant advance for Malaysia ' s healthcare landscape, Mahkota Medical Centre( MMC) and Regency Specialist Hospital( RSH) inaugurated the country ' s first robotic-assisted surgical( RAS) systems, hinotori™, developed through a partnership between Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Sysmex Corporation.
This launch, part of HMI Medical ' s broader strategy to enhance tertiary data sovereignty, offering real-time crisis alerting and centralised IT governance. It also included an AI assistant, Net-C, which allowed clinicians and staff to access workflows and information securely, enhancing productivity and patient outcomes.
All data remained securely within Malaysia, adhering to standards set by the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health and Joint Commission International.
The platform was initially rolled out at KPJ Pasir Gudang Specialist Hospital in March 2024, followed by Johor Specialist Hospital and Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital. Early adopters reported significant improvements in secure clinical communications. NetSfere is set to expand its services across the KPJ network, further supporting healthcare teams in delivering safe and efficient care.

that align with the vision of becoming a leading smart hospital.
Hinotori™, already operational in 87 hospitals across Japan and Singapore, has received approval from Malaysia ' s Medical Device Authority. It is designed to enhance surgical precision and reduce recovery times, offering significant advantages over traditional open and laparoscopic surgeries. Early outcomes from MMC and RSH indicated improvements in surgical accuracy, shorter hospital stays, and increased patient satisfaction.
As demand for robotic-assisted surgeries grows, particularly in urology, gynaecology, and general surgery, HMI Medical aims to expand the use of hinotori™ to various procedures, including those related to prostate, kidney, and women ' s health. This initiative not only aims to elevate surgical standards but also positions Malaysia as a regional leader in medical innovation.
The introduction of hinotori™ underscores a commitment to patient-centric care, integrating advanced technologies to meet evolving healthcare needs. With the continuous development of digital healthcare innovations, including smart wards equipped with IoT devices, HMI Medical reaffirms its commitment to delivering highquality care and enhancing the overall patient experience.
TRANSPARENT MOVES: P3S System launched to streamline healthcare worker placements and enhance efficiency
THE Ministry of Health Malaysia( MoH) today launched the Pertukaran Suka Sama Suka( P3S) System as a concrete step to reduce bureaucracy, speed up the placement change process, and safeguard the welfare of healthcare workers.
The first phase of implementing the P3S System will commence Oct 1, 2025 and will be open to nurse schemes under the Nursing Division. Applications can be made online via the official link: https:// p3s. moh. gov. my. All eligibility requirements and application procedures can be referred to in the guidelines on the portal.
Previously, the MoH officer transfer process was carried out manually. Due to the high number of applications, the process often took a long time and encouraged the use of informal channels. P3S is now an official platform to accelerate matching, streamline workflows, and make the process more transparent and fairer, without altering existing approval rules.
Through the implementation of this system, the transfer process will be more straightforward, faster and more transparent. The administration at the Pejabat Tanggungjawab( PTJ) level only needs to confirm the officer ' s qualifications, and a new placement letter will be automatically generated after the match is successfully made. The officers involved must report simultaneously at the new placement location on the official effective date.
Following the nurse scheme, P3S will be expanded in phases, starting in 2026, to include the Medical Officer, Assistant Medical Officer, Dental Officer, Pharmacist, and Assistant Pharmacist schemes. The implementation of P3S reflects the MoH ' s commitment to supporting the welfare and well-being of health workers, reducing bureaucratic red tape, and subsequently increasing administrative efficiency.
It aligns with the aspirations of MADANI Malaysia, which is based on sustainability, well-being, and creativity, particularly in strengthening the national health system.- The HEALTH
