Securing agricultural transformation

• Eight winners were awarded on the 8th Malaysian Agro Excellence Awards 2025 for their excellence and contributions to the agriculture industry.
• Focus was placed on the importance of national food security and technology-driven tools.
• A unified action across industry was encouraged for the better outlook of agricultural sector in the future.

THE 8th Malaysian Agro Excellence Awards 2025, held in December last year at the Auditorium Rashidan Baba, Universiti Putra Malaysia( UPM), brought together policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders to evaluate the future direction of national food production.

Organised by the Agricultural Protection & Development Association of Malaysia( APDAM) in collaboration with the Agricultural Institute of Malaysia( AIM), the platform situates agricultural excellence within broader economic and environmental contexts.
The ceremony celebrated 8 exemplary winners for their outstanding achievements in shaping the future of the agricultural industry and for highlighting the many contributions that fuel Malaysia ' s agricultural growth.
Among the winners, Revon Media was honoured to receive a certificate of appreciation recognising its contribution, generous sponsorship, and dedicated efforts towards the 8th Malaysian Agricultural Excellence Awards 2025.
HONOURING EFFORTS
APDAM President Chai Siong Siew opened the ceremony with a warm welcome to the guests and award winners.
“ Today, we honour not only exceptional agricultural entrepreneurs but also the dedicated scientists whose persistent efforts have delivered groundbreaking ESG projects,” said Chai.
Chai also stressed that agricultural excellence requires alignment with emerging global standards. Export competitiveness increasingly depends on traceability systems, pesticide regulation, and carbon-conscious production models.
In his view, innovation should not operate in isolation. Research breakthroughs must be integrated into commercial systems.

AN APPRECIATION: Revon Media, represented by its Publisher Kay Mathy, received a certificate of appreciation in recognition of its contribution, generous sponsorship, and dedicated efforts to the 8th Malaysian Agro Excellence Awards 2025.
“ Excellence is measured by sustainability outcomes as much as by financial returns,” Chai reminded.
UTILISING GREEN TECHNOLOGIES
AIM President Professor Dato’ Dr Abdul Shukor Juraimi was also invited to the ceremony and he addressed the structural gaps in national food production.
“ In line with the ceremony’ s theme, Smart, Sustainable, and Secure, I would like to emphasise the need to increase the production and sustainability of natural resources. Many of these initiatives can be enabled through digital technologies such as IoT, smart farming, and drones.”
Shukor ended his speech by expressing the hope that AIM would be able to implement all aspects of agricultural technology across the country, with one goal: to protect users and farmers and to aid them in producing highquality products and services.
SUSTAINABLE GROWTH STRATEGY
Complementing this perspective, the Director of the Urban Agriculture Division, Department of Agriculture( DOA) Malaysia, Jong Chun Sun, expanded the discussion to integrated sustainability.
“ Food must remain safe, sufficient, and secure, yet social welfare cannot be treated as secondary. Sustainable agriculture requires balance among economic, ecological, and social factors.”
“ Global disruptions intensify local vulnerabilities. Climate change, natural disasters, and fluctuating trade costs raise production costs year on year.”
She stressed that addressing this issue requires a unified approach, specifically by investing resources in Malaysia’ s farming system. Through the use of technology, these resources can be recycled into Malaysia’ s farming system.
FROM PRINCIPLES FORWARD
The Organising Chairman, BK Tan, anchored the ceremony in practical resolve. In his closing address, Tan directed his remarks firmly towards the next phase.
Tan encourages the winners of the ceremony, drawn from different industries, to work together and brainstorm ways to strengthen the country’ s agricultural supply chain.
He emphasised that the supply chain needs to be effective to improve the nation’ s agricultural sector in future.
As the curtains closed on the ceremony, the 8th Malaysia Agro Excellence Award 2025 served as a catalyst, inspiring the winners and other industry players to realise their potential and work together to contribute to the nation’ s agricultural sector.- @ AGROBiz
