known challenges: limited shelf life, strict import regulations, and logistics vulnerabilities."
Despite these hurdles, MD2 pineapples are relatively resilient due to their natural durability and extended shelf life. The broader challenge lies in scaling operations to include other fruits that may be more perishable.
However, Razak is optimistic: " With learnings from MD2, we are well-positioned to expand while ensuring quality remains uncompromised."
To manage these risks, FGV utilises strong cold chain logistics, digital inventory systems, and close cooperation with regulatory bodies to meet export standards.
SUPPLY CHAIN RESILIENCE
FGV ' s proactive approach to supply chain management is crucial for ensuring reliable exports.
" We take a proactive approach by integrating contract farming under our Agro Rangers programme, securing consistent and scalable supply," Razak explained, adding that it ensures that farmers are supported and that production levels can meet export demands.
The company is also investing in cold storage and logistics upgrades, particularly at its collection, processing, and packaging centres( CPPCs).
Additionally, the adoption of digital tools allows FGV to track supply, anticipate shortages, and manage logistics risks effectively. " This ensures that we can weather disruptions while maintaining supply reliability to our international buyers."
