Unlocking Asia ’ s energy transition potential

FUTURE Energy Asia ( FEA ) and Future Mobility Asia ( FMA ), held on May 17-19 , welcomed 17,458 attendees from over 70 countries to the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok , Thailand , from the global energy and mobility sectors .

FEA and FMA are the region ’ s fastest-growing energy and mobility events , hosting delegates from the private and public sectors and the entire energy value chain , including over 550 CEOs , policymakers , and technical experts .
Over three days , FEA facilitated critical dialogue and formed beneficial partnerships aligned with the broader policies and priorities of the Asian energy sector . As a result , the region ’ s energy policymakers and business leaders have moved one step closer to meeting global environmental targets .
On the exhibition floor , in the strategic and technical conference sessions and during high-level leadership roundtables , attendees were given a platform to understand and support the ambitions of both governments and businesses regarding their roles in the energy transition .
Much of the discussions during the event centred on the balance between achieving growth targets and maintaining net zero goals .
The Strategic Summit sessions included discussions of the role of alternative energies in the energy transition , the value of strategic and regional partnerships and debates on current and future energy policies .
Future Mobility Asia put a spotlight on future clean mobility concepts , including innovative solutions and emerging technologies .
The event brought together many stakeholders , such as OEMs , mobility innovators , after-market suppliers and technology solutions providers . It also showcased the latest technologies and their critical role in driving Asia ’ s mobility transition and transformation .
The exhibition floor featured the Future Mobility Hub , a unique interactive and immersive display of mobility solutions and the Electric Vehicle demonstration zone , offering first-hand EV driving experiences .
Highlights from both events across the past three days include :
• A high-level leadership roundtable on “ Enhancing energy security through Carbon Capture , Utilisation , and Storage ( CCUS )” hosted by The Asia Natural Gas & Energy Association ( ANGEA ) convened 30 of the region ’ s most senior energy leaders .
• Charge + launched a 5,000km EV Charging Highway across five countries in Southeast Asia and signed a strategic partnership with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand ( EGAT ).
• The Shell Recharge hosted the Executive & Speaker Lounge for the first time , welcoming hundreds of VIPs to a dedicated space for networking , collaboration and meaningful discussions . Key speakers at FEA and FMA were :

Dr Kiatfuengfoo said : “ It has been deeply encouraging to hear first-hand from Asia ’ s energy leaders about how we can navigate the energy transition both in Asia and across the globe .
“ It is evident that by working together , uniting expertise from both business and policymaking , we can make meaningful strides in enabling the energy transition . Thailand is committed to playing its part , and the events of the last two days have given us a strong signal for achieving the net zero targets of the country , as well as the wider region .”
Intaranongpai said the energy transition was both a challenge and an opportunity at PTT .
“ PTT has adjusted our business strategy and expanded to future energy businesses , including renewable energy , electric vehicle , energy storage , hydrogen , and actively engaging in LNG business .
“ PTT believes that this event brings together leading energy companies to discuss and find effective solutions to shape the direction and find a pathway to achieve net zero goal .”
Vichaipairojwong said to tackle the global climate issue , the community had to commit and join hands to overcome this challenge of the world together .
“ At PTTEP , we have set the target of reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 . This can be achieved by speeding the emission reduction effort toward the low-carbon world .
“ Having platforms to discuss and exchange new perspectives for sustainable energy solutions with leaders and experts in the energy industry will lead us to achieve net zero GHG emissions jointly .”
Cherngchawano added that the energy industry was rapidly changing , and the public and private sectors must collaborate to keep pace . He pointed out that FEA had shown how this collaboration was possible through knowledge exchange , partnerships and more .
“ By working together , we can equip ourselves with the tools and information required to achieve our environmental targets .”
Anatol Feygin Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer , Cheniere , said LNG had a vital role to play in the fuel mix of the Asian nations , helping to improve the overall sustainability , affordability , and security of energy in the region .
Cheniere was pleased to have several Asian companies among its more than 30 customers worldwide and is delighted to be at FEA in Bangkok this week to participate in discussions about the energy transition in the region .
FEA and FMA have provided the only integrated , diversified summit and innovations showcase for Asia ’ s Energy and Mobility transition and transformation missions .
Ng Aik Hock , Cities & Public Services Director , AP SOUTH at Dassault Systèmes , said : “ In the drive for sustainability , every industry and every sector are doing its part . The mobility sector is no different .
“ We don ’ t have to look hard to know that electricity will power future mobility . And the huge demand for electric energy cannot come from fossil fuels . It is not sustainable .”
