Cenergi FJP 1.5 MW Biogas Power Plant ( Jerantut , Pahang )
Cenergi ’ s Biogas to electricity process .
Rompin Integrated Pineapple Industry ( RIPI ) 0.5 MW Solar Power Plant ( Kuala Rompin , Pahang ).
Since the inception of Havys , Cenergi ’ s first biogas power plant commissioned in 2013 , Cenergi has grown extensively and has 17 biogas power plants in its portfolio , comprising 15.8 MW in operation and another 12.2 MW under development .
In December 2020 , Cenergi achieved Commercial Operation Date ( cod ) of its first biogas-to-energy power plant outside Malaysia , i . e . in Lampung , Sumatera , with an installed capacity 3.0 MW , utilising gas captured from cassava .
Solar is another fast-growing RE business segment . This is reflected in Cenergi ’ s rapidly increasing solar projects portfolio .
Through ventures in corporate Solar Power Purchase Agreements ( SPPA ) with corporate customers , Cenergi installs and operates solar photovoltaic ( PV ) systems on rooftops of the buildings and premises of these customers .
Installation of solar panels allows these corporate customers to enjoy reduced electricity costs with zero upfront capital and operational expenditure for the entire SPPA term . Currently , Cenergi is developing rooftop solar assets with multiple corporate customers in the Northern and Eastern regions of Peninsular Malaysia .
This is in addition to the three groundmounted solar farms with a total installed capacity of 7.0 MW and two rooftop solar assets with a total installed capacity of 3.5 MWp , which are operational .
In the EE segment , Cenergi focuses on reducing client ’ s energy consumption by implementing energy-saving measures and upgrading electrical equipment that is less efficient in both commercial and industrial buildings . The reduced energy consumption is then translated into significant savings in utility bills .
Cenergi has implemented four EE projects with a total investment value of RM45 million , including one public university in Gombak , Selangor and three retail malls in Kuala Lumpur , Bandaraya Melaka and Johor Baru .
Exploring new ventures
Cenergi is also actively looking for new ventures by exploring an innovative and disruptive technology such as biomass fuels , waste heat recovery and bio compressed natural gas ( bioCNG ) to expand its RE business .
Cenergi ’ s most recent biomass fuel production venture via an Empty Fruit Bunch ( EFB ) pellet plant is progressing well . The EFB pellet is expected to be fuel in a biomass power plant or coal-fired power plants , either locally or internationally .
This venture will allow Cenergi to build its capabilities and expertise in the biomass market while highlighting its benefits as a natural and sustainable fuel source .
He said : “ We believe that strategic partnerships are essential to our business . Cenergi relies very much on our valuable partners .
“ We are grateful that our partners believe in our reputability and capabilities in deliv- ering what is expected from us .
“ We will continue to enhance our capabilities in project delivery , asset management and operation and maintenance to maximise project return to our stakeholders .”
After operating for almost a decade , Cenergi seeks to continue making an impactful change towards the environment .
“ To date , Cenergi has saved over 1.11 million tons of carbon emission through its operating assets and investments , which is equivalent to emissions by approximately 211,000 passenger vehicles on the road for one year , or over 111,000 homes ’ energy use for one year .”
According to Hairol , the industry is expanding to realise the importance of sustainable and renewable energy industries .
“ Cenergi has been in the industry for quite some time and we believe we can play a much bigger part to participate in the greater effort of generating clean energy for a better environment .” — @ green
