Powering the economy
RM4.8 billion in green business leads secured
MALAYSIA strengthened its position as a leader in green technology with the successful conclusion of the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia ( IGEM ) 2024 .
Held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre ( KLCC ) from 9 to 11 October , the event generated RM4.8 billion in business leads , showcasing Malaysia ’ s commitment to a sustainable economy . IGEM 2024 also supported the country ’ s preparations for major global engagements , including COP29 , the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025 , and Expo 2025 .
The event was attended by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad , and the Minister of Economy Rafizi Ramli . Over the past 15 years , IGEM has grown to become a crucial platform for advancing Malaysia ’ s regional and global green leadership .
EXPANDING GLOBAL REACH
Organised by the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation ( MGTC ) under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability ( NRES ), IGEM 2024 saw participation from 480 exhibitors and 48,000 visitors across 48 countries , marking significant expansion into new markets in Europe , the Middle East , and North Africa .
Themed “ Race Towards Net Zero : Regional Leadership for Climate Urgency ,” IGEM 2024 focused on five key pillars : Empowering Cities , Electrifying Mobility , Decarbonising Energy , Accelerating Circularity , and Conserving Biodiversity . These themes addressed global sustainability challenges and promoted innovative solutions .
INNOVATION ZONES
The 2024 edition introduced several new highlights , including a dedicated zone for hydrogen and carbon technologies , the Central Energy Transition Asia ( CETA ) zone , and Mobility X , which showcased the future of connected autonomous , shared , and electric mobility .

IGEM had evolved from a trade exhibition to a platform driving green innovation and sustainable solutions across Southeast Asia . He noted that the event symbolised the region ’ s commitment to achieving a more sustainable future , with Malaysia playing a leading role .
IGEM 2024 aligned closely with Malaysia ’ s National Climate Change Policy ( NCCP ), which serves as the foundation for
SOLIS Inverters , a prominent player in the solar energy sector , has made significant strides in Malaysia over the past four years . The company leads the residential market and holds around 15 per cent of the commercial and industrial ( CNI ) segment .
According to Sean Ng , Country Manager of Solis Inverters , 2024 is a crucial milestone for the company , with residential shipments tripling and an 80 per cent growth in the CNI market .
“ The focus this year includes the utility market , where Solis is collaborating with the largest EPCC client for solutions and partnerships under Solaris Malaysia ,” said Ng .
Solis has introduced its latest 150 kW CNI inverter , designed for factories , shopping malls , and retail outlets . This product features low startup voltage , high current support , and independent MPPTs , allowing efficient integration without the need for optimisers .
These innovations are aimed the forthcoming Climate Change Act .
The NCCP outlines a comprehensive approach to addressing climate impacts through mitigation , adaptation , and resilience . It reinforces Malaysia ’ s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting natural ecosystems .
Nik Nazmi highlighted that the NCCP guided Malaysia in implementing policies balancing environmental protection with economic growth . He stated that IGEM showcased how these policies , including the upcoming Climate Change Act , were driving meaningful progress towards sustainability .
The event demonstrated Malaysia ’ s proactive steps in policy-making to support green technology initiatives and attract investment in sustainability projects .
GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
IGEM 2024 attracted international participation , with companies and organisations from Austria , Canada , China , Singapore , Thailand , Finland , Korea , and the Netherlands . It served as a hub for global collaboration , connecting businesses , thought leaders , and policymakers .
IGEM 2024 demonstrated Malaysia ’ s ambition to lead in green technology by providing a platform for stakeholders to engage , innovate , and form partnerships . The event showcased Malaysia ’ s efforts to harness collaboration between the public and private sectors to advance green innovation , providing a model for economies shifting towards sustainability .

The company is actively engaging with the solar farm business , collaborating with Malaysia ’ s top EPCC firms , particularly for the LSS 5 and CRESS projects . Solis is currently in discussions with around 12 potential partners , aiming to expand its footprint further in this sector .
“ There is potential for battery energy storage systems ( BESS ) and hybrid systems in the Malaysian market . Solis is prepared to cater to this trend , with projects already underway , including pilot initiatives involving EV charging stations and remotesite factories ,” added Ng .
