ITC takes charge in elevating Islamic tourism
Industry players should tap the Islamic tourism market due to its vast potential
BY AYU MUSA KAMAL
ISLAMIC tourism has had a steady growth these past few years and has shown little signs of slowing down . Even now , in the era of post-pandemic , while so many other sectors are struggling , Islamic tourism has shown resilience .
Touted as one of the fastest-growing tourism sectors in the world , this US $ 220 billion industry is an integral component of Malaysia ’ s tourism sector . To deal with such an important task , Malaysia ’ s Islamic Tourism Centre ( ITC ) has taken up the challenge to further polish this expanding industry in line with current market demands .
ITC Director-General Dato ’ Dr Mohmed Razip Hassan believes in the industry ’ s importance and potential and is prepared to take Malaysia ’ s Islamic tourism to the next level .
“ A lot of thinking and research must be done to retain our position as one of the most significant players in Islamic tourism . We are looking at it from the economic and the academic point of view and not forgetting the industry point of view . These three different components are equally important , albeit with differing views .
