Director-General Islamic Tourism Centre

CONTENTS

AS we mark the 15th anniversary of the Islamic Tourism Centre ( ITC ), it is both a privilege and a pleasure to reflect on our journey and the milestones we have achieved in shaping the landscape of Islamic Tourism and Muslim- Friendly Tourism and Hospitality .

Founded with a vision to position Islamic Tourism as a cornerstone of the global travel and hospitality industry , ITC has dedicated itself to fostering a thriving ecosystem that respects and promotes the values and traditions of Muslim travellers . Over these 15 years , our commitment has been unwavering , our impact profound , and our reach expansive . From pioneering innovative guidelines to championing best practices , ITC has played a pivotal role in transforming the way the world views and accommodates Muslim travellers .
Our efforts have not only enhanced the visibility of Islamic Tourism but have also facilitated meaningful partnerships , fostered industry standards , and driven significant growth in Muslim-friendly services . We have empowered businesses and destinations to better serve the needs of Muslim travellers , ensuring that their journeys are both comfortable and spiritually fulfilling .
As we prepare for the upcoming Islamic Tourism Month from 16 August to 30 September , we are excited to celebrate the rich tapestry of experiences that Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality offers . This month-long event will spotlight the diverse products and services that have emerged in our sector , showcasing the incredible progress we have made and the boundless potential that lies ahead .
Additionally , the 4th World Islamic Tourism Conference ( WITC ) from 12 to 13 September at Sunway Resort Hotel promises to be a landmark occasion . This conference will bring together thought leaders , industry experts , and stakeholders from across the globe to exchange insights , explore emerging trends , and shape the future of Islamic Tourism . It will serve as a testament to the collaborative spirit that drives our industry and a platform for envisioning new horizons .
Reflecting on our 15-year journey , it is clear that the Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality landscape has evolved significantly . Our achievements would not have been possible without the support of our dedicated partners , stakeholders , and the broader community . Most importantly , I would like to pay tribute to Dato ’ Sri Azalina binti Othman Said , the then- Minister of Tourism who mooted the idea of establishing ITC , and all my predecessors , Datuk Zainuddin Wahab , En Abdul Rahman Shaari , En Zulkifly Said , Dato ’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud , and Dato ’ Dr Mohmed Razip Hasan .
Thank you for being a part of this remarkable journey . Together , we look forward to continuing our efforts and achieving even greater milestones in the years to come .
Sincerely ,
Nizran Noordin Director-General , Islamic Tourism Centre
