ITM 2024 brings new opportunities for Muslim-friendly businesses

THE Islamic Tourism Centre ( ITC ) is thrilled to announce the return of Islamic Tourism Month ( ITM ) 2024 , an innovative campaign aimed at promoting Malaysia ’ s well-established Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality ( MFTH ) ecosystem .

Running from 16 August to 30 September , ITM 2024 seeks to position Malaysia as a prominent Muslim-friendly destination with a 45-day lineup of compelling programmes and activities nationwide .
Since its inception as Islamic Tourism Week in 2022 , the event has evolved into a month-long celebration due to overwhelming support from both the public and service providers .
The country ’ s continued top ranking in the Mastercard-Crescentrating Global Muslim Travel Index ( GMTI ) for the ninth consecutive year accentuates the significance of ITM 2024 in celebrating Malaysia ’ s harmonious society and the dedication of MFTH business operators .
ITM 2024 will feature a diverse array of captivating deals , promotions , and packages on Muslim-friendly products , including accommodation , travel packages , spa and wellness , food and beverages , events and exhibitions , seminars and training , shopping and retail , and healthcare tourism . A special feature of ITM 2024 will be the mosque tourism initiatives , such as the Mosque Open Day , in collaboration with renowned mosques across Malaysia to provide enriching cultural experiences .

ITM is not just a celebration of culture ; it serves as a platform for industry players in the tourism and halal sectors to showcase their Muslim-friendly innovations and offerings .
According to ITC Director-General Nizran Noordin : “ Malaysia is well-positioned to showcase an event such as ITM , thanks to our viable MFTH ecosystem and reputable recognition programmes such as Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality Assurance and Recognition ( MFAR ) and Muslim-Friendly Tourist Guide ( MFTG ). The Regent of Perlis , Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail , officiated the ITM 2024 soft launch and presented the MFAR plaques to certificate holders . The ceremony , held at Hotel Seri Malaysia Kangar in Perlis , was also attended by Perlis Menteri Besar , Yang Amat Berhormat Tuan Mohd Shukri Ramli .
The launch was a preview for the upcoming ITM activities , building anticipation among stakeholders and tourists . It set the stage for forthcoming events , including the 4th World Islamic Tourism Conference ( WITC ) on 12 and 13 September , held at Sunway Resort Hotel . With Visit Malaysia 2026 ( VM 2026 ) on the horizon , this is a good opportunity to showcase Malaysia ’ s hospitality .
Furthermore , ITM 2024 aligns perfectly with the government ’ s vision to establish Malaysia as the Umrah Transit Hub of Asia by offering products and services supporting the needs of pilgrims and Muslim tourists . Last year , 125 organisations joined ITM as strategic partners , resulting in numerous promotions and deals .
This year , ITM 2024 is looking to generate revenue and contribute to economic recovery
