Mosque Open Day 05
A welcoming space
Mosque Open Day allows visitors to experience Malaysia’ s mosques beyond prayer spaces
AS part of Islamic Tourism Month( ITM) 2025, the iconic Mosque Open Day( MOD) held across nine mosques nationwide was a meaningful success.
The programme welcomed both Muslims and non-Muslims, offering them the opportunity to explore the beauty of mosque architecture, appreciate Malaysia ' s rich cultural heritage, and understand the spiritual role of mosques as unifying landmarks.
It also became a meaningful platform for interaction and learning, fostering cross-cultural appreciation and promoting mosque tourism as a bridge between communities.
Mosque tourism continued to thrive, drawing growing interest from local and international visitors eager to experience Malaysia’ s living Islamic heritage.
As the nation moved towards Visit Malaysia Year 2026( VM2026), initiatives such as MOD further reinforced Malaysia’ s position as a global leader in Islamic tourism, demonstrating how faith, culture and community could come together to create meaningful travel experiences.
Moving forward, ITC plans to expand the MOD initiative throughout 2026, highlighting two prominent mosques from each state as key attractions in conjunction with VM2026.- RnR
