Moving progressively with stakeholders
Selangor Islamic Religious Department ( JAIS ) plays an essential role in the State ’ s halal industry
THE introduction of the halal industry portfolio by the Selangor Government back in October 2020 was to connect its Shariah institutions as stakeholders . Through the Selangor Islamic Religious Department ( JAIS ), the State consistently regulates and oversees the matters pertaining to halal management and related activities .
SELANGOR BEST HALAL SLAUGHTERHOUSE AWARDS 2022
On March 4 , 2022 , Selangor Halal Industry Standing Committee , through its Halal Supply Chain and Logistics Sub-Committee in collaboration with JAIS and HIS Toyyiba Sdn Bhd , organised the Selangor Best Halal Slaughterhouse Awards 2022 at the Shah Alam Convention Centre ( SACC ), Shah Alam .
The objective of the awards is to appreciate the owners of halal slaughterhouse premises in Selangor who consistently comply with the conditions and regulations in force and implement the slaughtering operation , which complies with Shariah and halalan toyyiban requirements .
The competition witnessed the participation of eight slaughterhouses which possess Malaysian halal certification .

II . Small Industry Category : Rumah Sembelihan Shah Alam
OTHER ACTIVITIES WITH JAIS
In collaboration with JAIS , Selangor Islamic Religious Affairs , Consumer Affairs and Halal Industry Committee organised a seminar entitled ‘ Pemantapan Sembelihan Halal Qurban Negeri Selangor ’ on July 4 , 2022 . The seminar , which took place at Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque , Shah Alam , was aimed at providing further understanding and explanation relating to halal slaughtering that complies with Shariah law . It was attended by representatives from mosques and surau within the State .
Pertaining to the halal certification , Selangor encourages its SMEs and small businesses to apply for and obtain halal certificates as this will help them explore more global halal opportunities . They will also increase consumers ’ confidence when purchasing halal goods .
As of October 2022 , 890 Bumiputera applicants and 2,768 non-Bumiputera applicants had submitted their halal certification applications . Selangor currently has 5,281 active halal certificate holders . – Special Edition
