Malaysia ’ s pioneering efforts and vision showcased at COP28
MALAYSIA is poised for a significant presence at the 28th Conference of Parties to the “ UNFCCC ” ( COP28 ) with the launch of the Malaysia Pavilion . Held in Expo City Dubai , UAE , from 30 November to 12 December 2023 with the theme UNITE . ACT . DELIVER ., nations worldwide will critically evaluate its progress in addressing climate change .
This year , the Malaysia Pavilion ’ s launch is marked by the theme “ Going Beyond : Green Growth , Resilient Community , Sustainable Planet ,” encapsulating Malaysia ’ s dynamic approach to climate action . The Pavilion signifies Malaysia ’ s commitment to progressive , holistic solutions — supporting the green economy while ensuring the well-being of communities , the planet , and biodiversity .

The King also expected the Malaysia Pavilion to be the focal point for potential investment opportunities and collaboration for the benefit of Malaysia as well as the global community .
Malaysia remains a regional leader in climate commitments , aiming for a net-zero nation as early as 2050 , subject to the outcome of Long-Term Low Emissions Development Strategies ( LT-LEDS ). Recognising the important role of our forest as a carbon sink , Malaysia has maintained a formidable more than 50 % forest cover since the Rio Earth Summit in 1992 .
“ Efforts to fight climate change are collectively implemented by country parties to the Paris Agreement . We hope to see more emphasis and urgency on taking action and focusing on practical implementations of the commitment made ,” Natural Resources , Environment and Climate Change Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said .
