NCSM
provides
free breast
cancer
screening
THE National Cancer Society
(NCSM) of Malaysia is currently
providing free breast screening
and pap smear to underprivileged
women at the Cancer & Health
Screening Clinic, Kuala Lumpur.
It is open for households with
an income of RM5,000 and below
or individuals with an income of
RM3,000 and below, women aged 25
to 39 years old, Malaysians only and
applicable for residents staying in
the Klang Valley and the surrounding
suburban and rural areas.
The programme is valid until July
31.

Conference to launch diabetes
in pregnancy guidelines

HE Malaysian Endocrine and
Metabolic Society (MEMS) will
be organising its ninth annual
congress this year. Themed ‘Evolving
towards Excellence in Endocrinology’,
the event aims to encourage scientific
research in endocrinology and foster
collaboration with local and regional
colleagues.
The Ministry of Health Malaysia
director general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham
Abdullah in a press statement recently
commented that the conference this
year serves as a platform for the launch-
ing of the Malaysian Clinical Practice
Guidelines (CPG) on the Management
of Diabetes in Pregnancy which is hoped
to help clinicians manage diabetes cases
in pregnant mothers according to the
latest current evidence within available
resources.
The evidence-based CPG has been
developed by a multidisciplinary team
consisting of family medicine specialists,
