Colours of
Independence
A
NOTHER Independence Day has
come and gone. There are patriotic
sentiments attached to this day for
sure, but over the years, definitions
adapt and evolve, which explains why being
independent is now frequently associated with
making your own way in the world.
I found myself pondering that this past week-
end. What does independence mean to you?
To me, independence means freedom for
people to express themselves and to use that
freedom to improve, learn and experience
everyday living.
It is freedom that satisfies your desire to
become a stronger person and yet does not
separate us from our values. It’s a sense of
individuality that empowers us to speak our
minds and free ourselves from ignorance.
To me, independence means living your
life to the fullest! It’s to enjoy, yet do your best
every single day of your life. It is about standing
bold, strong and courageous, pursuing a life of
peaceful endeavours while being responsible
for what we do.
Life is like a painting and I choose to pick out
the colours and draw exactly what I want.
Independence is the power of imagination!
