Advancing optometry, together

THE JJI Symposium united eye care professionals in a powerful exchange of ideas, innovation and best practices – highlighting the future of patient-centric, tech-driven optometry.
Home & Work Optometry Care Optometrist and Founder Liew Mei Lin shared: " The theme, ' Eyes in Pixel ', is particularly relevant as more individuals spend increasing amounts of time in front of screens for work and studies."
Referring to Darran Yeow ' s session, Liew emphasised the importance of being proactive and starting with a clear goal in mind.
" Being proactive and beginning with the end in mind is crucial. We must focus on what we want to achieve for our patients and always prioritise their needs," said Liew.
She further explained how understanding and synergy are essential in providing comprehensive patient care.

THE Johnson & Johnson Institute( JJI) symposium brought together a diverse group of eye care practitioners( ECPs) dedicated to advancing their knowledge and practices in optometry.

From discussions on cutting-edge technologies to the vital role of proactive patient care, the symposium served as a vibrant platform for exchanging ideas and best practices.

He praised the symposium as an excellent platform for ECPs to exchange ideas and share best practices.
Murphy urged attendees to view education as a continuous journey rather than a destination.
" The follow-up is so important," he asserted, advocating for ongoing learning that empowers practitioners to elevate their standards of care.
This approach will not only benefit individual practices but also enrich the wider eye care community.
Murphy also shared his thoughts on the JNJVISION- PRO initiative, which aims to support professional development among ECPs. He described the learning management system as " very timely ", allowing practitioners to access knowledge at their own pace while fostering networking opportunities for future growth.
Murphy expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage with fellow practitioners and share best practices.
" This will be a key part of our journey in the eye care practice in Malaysia," he stated, underscoring the importance of collaboration in advancing eye care.
" We need to combine all solutions to offer the best care and continuously update our knowledge to serve our patients effectively."
The symposium also addressed the critical need for ECPs to stay abreast of technological advancements.
" It ' s vital for ECPs to keep updated with the latest technologies and product knowledge. This symposium provides an invaluable platform for learning and networking with industry leaders."
Among the innovations presented, Liew was particularly excited about a new contact lens technology featuring an eyelid-stabilised design for astigmatic correction.
" This design reduces lens movement and rotation, enhancing vision quality and compliance for patients. It ' s a game changer that ensures a better experience in contact lens wear."
