cross-cultural runway event featuring designers from Malaysia and Indonesia.
“ We wanted this to be more than just a fashion show. We wanted to highlight the entire ecosystem that sustains and grows our industry,” explained Jay.
The runway featured a diverse lineup of designers whose collections presented unique cultural narratives:
Arlina Ayou( Malaysia): Presented a couture collection blending traditional Malaysian batik with fine leatherwork and Indian luxury influences. Bill Keith( Malaysia): Showcased a collection inspired by the Sahara Desert’ s sunsets, with Bedouin women as muse and expressed in vibrant hues of maroon, amber, coral, and gold. Casalwa, founded by Datin Sharifah Salwa Syed Shafie( Malaysia): Presented‘ Whispers of Modesty’, which honours Malaysia’ s multicultural identity, incorporating hibiscus motifs and traditional attire into sophisticated designs. Yani Bakhtiar( Malaysia): Introduced a line of Arabian-inspired modest wear, enhanced with intricate beadwork.
3G by Icha Key USA( Indonesia): Under the theme‘ Sriwijaya Revival,’ the collection pays tribute to Palembang’ s songket craftsmanship and the legacy of the Sriwijaya Empire. Donahue by Tanti( Indonesia): Under the theme“ Jogja Everyday Modesty”, the collection featured a Yogyakarta-inspired batik, fine lambskin leather bags, and handcrafted shoes, merging traditional artistry with everyday modern life. Running alongside the fashion show is the Modest Fashion Trade Booth, a dedicated designer booth. It was positioned beside the main stage at MITEC and served as a space for buyers and trade visitors to examine collections up close.
The booth also enabled media representatives to connect directly with participating designers, uncovering the stories behind each brand.
Accordingly, the booth not only enhanced visibility but also fostered valuable business opportunities and strengthened connections within the global modest fashion community.
CHALLENGES & EMPOWERMENT
While the MIHAS Modest Fashion Show & Forum was a celebration of creative excellence, Jay also underscored the very real challenges facing the industry’ s talent.
Many designers struggle with limited funding, restricted access to international platforms, and the pressure of preserving heritage crafts like batik and songket while building a sustainable, modern business.
“ These challenges are real, but they are also the very reason why MyFashionChamber is here. Our mission is to advocate, to connect, and to open doors so that no designer or artisan is left behind.”
This advocacy finds its perfect stage at MIHAS. Distinguished as the world’ s largest halal showcase, MIHAS provides unparalleled access to global markets, credible buyers, and international media coverage in a single venue.
“ It is here that modest fashion can prove itself not only as culture and identity, but as a global business sector with real economic impact.”
Valued at over US $ 277 billion, the growth trajectory of the modest fashion market is undeniable. Plus, this momentum is being propelled forward by a new

generation of entrepreneurs and consumers who are digitally savvy, bold, and embracing their cultural identity.
“ Today is about empowering our designers and the fashion community to be themselves, while also providing the platforms, forging partnerships, and creating pathways for them to reach the world,” said Jay.
At the same time, MIHAS’ spotlight on modest fashion aligns with its theme,‘ Pinnacle of Halal Excellence.’ Excellence, believes Jay, is measured not only by trade achievements but through giving designers and artisans a platform to be heard.
This way, modest fashion stands as both a tribute to cultural heritage and a catalyst for international trade. Hence, reinforces Malaysia’ s prominence in the halal creative economy.
“ Let us together take Malaysian modest fashion to its rightful place on the global stage. Let’ s not just watch history unfold. Let’ s be the ones to shape it.”-
